How do I stop m'damned shoes sliding off?

I ordered some amazing shoes of amzingness in the sales, namely these and these.

They fit well, are comfortable, and are so lovely I want to cry.

But about every third step my heel lifts out of them and they fall off. They're not too big or anything.

This happens a lot if I get high-heeled courts. Is there anything I can do about it or are they going to have to go back to the shop Sad

I know this is DEEPLY naff, but elastoplast on the inside of the heel really helps.

Insoles help as well.

Have you got very narrow feet? I have. They are size 8-9 but very narrow, so I just step out of shoes. I remember jay walking across a very busy London street to work with ballet flats on and scampered across the street leaving both shoes behind. Twat.

BTW you made me roar on that thread last night re brass neck.

The brass necker has started a thread in aibu about the ver' same subject. Like Groundhog Day.

I'm all about the naff. That sounds both cheap and effective. God, I'm turning into my Mum Grin

I have tiny little feet with very high arches. They are sort of small and blocky, almost like little pale plump cubes with toes. This is all the more galling given that I am built like a brick shit-house.

I am going to get some plasters at lunchtime and give it a go. I REFUSE to give up these shoes!

What?! Really?!

It LITERALLY upset me that did Blush. I just can't believe people can be so disingenuoenousneousnounous. I blush like a fucking sunset if I get caught out telling a tiny white lie about the flavour crisps I've eaten.

Put pant liners in the heels instead of plasters, better staying power and nice and comfy.

Try the insoles as well.

Or do what I do and buy shoes a size too small (and cope with the pain Grin)

Bloody hell is that true re panty liners?

Are you winding us up coco?

Report
cocolepew · 31/07/2012 10:30

No tis true. I use them on my heel, under socks, if I have rubby shoes. They cover more of your foot and stick like shit to a blanket.

You might to trim them if they are going on the actual shoe.

You can get little gel strips that stick in the back of your shoe that help, plus the gel party feet things help your feet stay put

Wow, panty liners! That's amazing! So = on my heel under my tights, or on the shoe itself??

I have 2 weddings coming up, for both of which I will be quite significantly more in the limelight than I would like, and I have never really had amazing shoes, so I refuse to give these up.

Arf @ shit to a blanket Grin

Seriously though. I am wearing the peep-toe ones now. They have a GOLD HEEL!

This looks amazing with my customary style (think of a youngish academic who blackmailed the college bursar, took to drink, and has become a tramp).

That is a great tip re panty liners.

Oh god though if you get run over by a bus. The nurse will cut your tights off in the hospital and will just think that is where you store your sanitary products.

cocolepew · 31/07/2012 10:40

Unless very thick tights I would put it on the shoe. Otherwise it would just look like your pant liner has slid down your leg .

I bought heel pads on Amazon, little suede type plasters. They help the grip.

JodieHarsh · 31/07/2012 10:51

That's great thanks, coco. I will give it a go and possibly colour it in with crayon to make it match the inside of the shoe

Useful to know you can buy the things if all else fails, Sue - I'll have a look on amazon and see what shape and size to cut my panty liner (I'll level with you chaps: that's not a phrase I thought I would ever use).

I am wearing them now (in the office, sitting down). Is it normal for your toes to go numb when you're wearing 3.5 inch heels? Confused Grin

What about heel grips?

I knew it was you posting even before I read your name next to the thread title Wink

Hi Val - and Grin Blush

Do heel grips actually work?? I guess the only thing is to try.

I must sound paranoid but at wedding 1 I will be giving a reading AND a speech AND the bride says I have to dance with her, and at wedding 2 I will be bridesmaid, so I can't really afford to be stacking it...

In other news I have however bought the most amazing vintage 40s pillbox hat with a veil. So no-one going to be looking at my feet!

The suede heel pads you can get in chemists, or Timpson, and they won't come off, unlike the gel ones. These.

OOOH show us the pillbox 40s hat

Shell thanks so much - help to know what to look for.

Get It should be showing on my profile!

I'll be wearing it with a vintage 80's-does-40s silk dress - black with a (very) abstract splashy print, very full skirt, tight broad waistband, deep V at the front, wrapover bodice, loose faintly Kimono-y 3/4 sleeves.

I am SO excited Lost some weight recently so feeling a bit confident. As you can tell by my willingness to wear a mad old hat and gold-heeled shoes in public Grin

Eeep! I hope so!

I wasn't going to really Go For It for this first wedding because it's a bit more of a relaxed do - but I went shopping with the bride at the weekend and being The Nicest Woman In The World (tm) she professes to be more excited about seeing what everyone else is wearing than about her own frock , and as she mistakenly thinks I'm epically glam I thought I'd up my game a bit Grin

ANYWAY I am off out to Boots to get elastoplast/panty liners/heel grips. I shall Report Back. Y'all can't wait!

It is isn't it?! I have thick collarbone length henna'd hair with a blunt fringe, so it should look OK. But I spent £45 on something I will only probably wear about 2 times and shudder to think what my Mum would say...

Don't tell mum!

I think wearing that hat will make you feel about 7 feet tall and incredibly glam - you will have the hat to live up to iyswim.

I hope you have a lovely time.
