TASSIMO Coffee morning feedback thread – TASSIMO Vivy (RRP £99.99) prize draw NOW CLOSED

This thread is for everyone who attended a TASSIMO coffee morning in their local area.

Here’s what TASSIMO say, “We hope you had a great time at your local coffee morning and enjoyed trying out the TASSIMO Vivy. We think it really couldn’t be simpler, or tastier. The patented capsules are specially made for TASSIMO machines and are perfectly dosed with high-quality sealed ingredients. And if you’re fickle about your tipple, it’s not a problem as you can safely switch drinks as often as you want. The system prevents any previous drinks sneaking in and a stream rinse automatically cleans up every last drop.

The new TASSIMO Vivy is the perfect addition to any kitchen thanks to its petite size and compact design. The latest addition to the TASSIMO range offers the same flexibility and choice as a standard TASSIMO coffee machine but with a much smaller footprint.”

Please answer the questions below but feel free to add any other thoughts you may have.

Q1. Which TASSIMO coffee morning did you attend? How did you find the morning overall?
Q2. Which T-DISCS did you try? Which was your favourite and why?
Q3. What was your overall impression of the TASSIMO Vivy? Would you consider buying one yourself? If so, why? If not, why not?
Q4. Would you recommend the TASSIMO Vivy and variety of drink to friends and/or family if it came up in conversation? If so, why? If not, why not?

If you took any pictures on the day, please upload these on to the thread.

Everyone who adds their feedback will be entered into a prize draw to win your own TASSIMO Vivy.

Thanks and good luck,
MNHQ

  1. The Merton one. I enjoyed the morning, nice to meet some local MNetters.
  2. Hot chocolate and latte. I loved the HC as it tasted like a quality one (not quite pret a manger) but a

whole lot better than the sachet-and-water ones.
  1. I liked how neat and compact it was but it was a bit expensive for me, although I do have a lot of friends drop by for coffee. I would buy a cheaper one.
  2. I would probably recommend the Vivy as I liked the machine and the range of drinks available.

Had our coffee morning on Thursday - a few dropped out on the day so this is work in progress....

So far feedback from 3 ... And then later DH Smile

Espresso was really good - strong, good proper coffee
Suchard Hot Chocolate good - but the Cadbury's not so much - too weak apparently
Americano - thumbs up

Liked the design but not the colour (black) - thought the machine would look better in a brighter colour - stylish in a neon maybe?

Q1. Which TASSIMO coffee morning did you attend? How did you find the morning overall?
I went to the Newcastle one in Gateshead with my two little ones. I found the coffee morning to be fun - the host was friendly and put us at ease straightaway. I've never been made to feel so welcome at such an event before! Very well organised. Great host, great venue - thanks.

Q2. Which T-DISCS did you try? Which was your favourite and why?
I tried the caramel macchiato, which was delicious. It tasted like a handcrafted drink from a high street coffee shop, not a cup of powdery dishwater you get with the sachet versions of latte.

My 6 yo chose to try a cadburys hot chocolate. He thought it was lovely, but then his 2 yo brother got hold of it and drank the second half, refusing to let go of the cup until the last drops had gone. He agreed that it was "yummy". I quite liked the sip that I had had of it when it was first made, though I preferred my latte.

Q3. What was your overall impression of the TASSIMO Vivy? Would you consider buying one yourself? If so, why? If not, why not?
I would definitely consider buying one. It was compact and unobtrusive, and not too noisy. It made a lovely latte, without any mess, and there didn't seem to be any residual coffee or caramel left behind to taint the next drink. If I could afford it I'd buy one to take to work tomorrow!

Q4. Would you recommend the TASSIMO Vivy and variety of drink to friends and/or family if it came up in conversation? If so, why? If not, why not?
I would definitely recommend it to friends and family. It makes a decent panad and would make you feel pampered in your own home!

I'm looking forward to going back to Sunderland Road Community Library in future - what a find! Maybe I'd be lucky enough to have a sneaky latte while I'm there, if they've still got the TASSIMO!

My 2yo drinking his brother's Cadbury's (tepid) hot chocolate. He had the tightest grip on the mug, and the most serious of faces until every last drop had gone. There was no stopping him after he'd had his first sip! A good sign I'd say!

Q1: I hosted the Manchester coffee morning.
Q2 : I tried the Latte one which was lovely, the milk tasted fresh. I also had an espresso, the coffee was strong and did not taste like it was from a machine.
My children all had hot chocolates and loved them.
Q3: I found the machine really easy to use and not at all messy, the discs can be recycled which was a concern of mine. I didn't find it that noisy and it was very compact.
Q4. I would certainly recommend this coffee machine. It does not take up much space which is important in family kitchens, my children also loved making the hot chocolates for their friends and there was no mess! The coffee was authentic as well.
I believe the price is competitive when you compare what else is out there. This is a very easy to use machine with no fuss.

Q1. I hosted the Merton Coffee Morning.

Q2. I tried the Latte and both types of hot chocolate. I found the Latte seemed very caffeine-rich (and rather too strong even though I am a die-hard filter coffee drinker) but really enjoyed both types of hot chocolate (couldn't really say which one I preferred although glad neither was over-sweet!).

Q3. I liked it - compact, quick and easy-to-use by adults and teens/tweens alike.

Q4. I would recommend it particularly to families with teens and young adults going off to Uni - it would make a good 18th birthday present! I get the feeling that it might prove more economical in terms of energy-efficiency than using kettles to make drinks.

The only thing I would say is that it could do with a 'beep' to let one know that the drink is ready - I love really hot drinks but have found that even though the process is very quick, I have a habit of wandering off to do something else and by the time I get back to the ready-made drink, it has already cooled down considerably.

Q1. Which TASSIMO coffee morning did you attend? How did you find the morning overall? - East Kent. Morning was lovely as I am friends with the host Grin
Q2. Which T-DISCS did you try? Which was your favourite and why? - I tried the cappacino and the toffee coffee one, DD tried the hot choc. I wasn't keen on the toffee as it wasn't very sweet and seemed a little bitter. Was OK with sugar . Cappacino was lovely but much the same as any other coffee machine - enjoyed but no big wow. DD guzzled the hot chocolate one in seconds flat! Far quicker than the powdered hot choc we use and so she clearly enjoyed that!
Q3. What was your overall impression of the TASSIMO Vivy? Would you consider buying one yourself? If so, why? If not, why not? - It was small and good to look at, didn't take up too much work surface. Quite quiet too, so overall unobtrusive. I wouldn't consider getting one though as I can see DD wanting to push the button every ten mins and cups being left all over the house. The pods are also still too expensive for me on our tight food budget. This would be a luxury item.
Q4. Would you recommend the TASSIMO Vivy and variety of drink to friends and/or family if it came up in conversation? If so, why? If not, why not? - If someone was looking for one I would. I understand it is far cheaper than others on the market (cost per pod). However I do think the 'large' cup size wasn't really big enough for very standard sized mugs! Is that a way of keeping pod costs down?

Q1: I attended the Newcastle coffee morning in Gateshead. I was rather nervous having never been to any sort of mumsnet meetup- but the host was very welcoming and the atmosphere very friendly. There were plenty of toys for children to play with and Sunderland Road Library was a fantastic venue.
Q2: I tried the Caramel latte, the Suchard and the Costa Americano. My favourite would be the Americano because it's not too sweet and is probably the best for waking up.
Q3: The machine itself was really easy to use and didn't take up much space. The beverages it produced were comparable to those sold in a coffee shop. I would consider buying one because I like coffee and the ease of use would be a particular advantage in the morning when I am operating uncaffeinated.
Q4: Yes I would. It's compact and makes nice drinks. There is also a variety of drinks available. Brew

Q1. Which TASSIMO coffee morning did you attend? How did you find the morning overall?
I went to the Bournemouth/Poole coffee morning - nice to meet other MNers - shame not more attended.

Q2. Which T-DISCS did you try? Which was your favourite and why?
I tried the Costa cappuccino, Suchard hot chocolate and the caramel latte. I'm not really a coffee drinker but I liked the cappuccino best, I don't know if the other two have artificial sweetener but it tasted like it. The chocolate was nice otherwise, I did find the latte very sweet but I don't take sugar in my drinks anyway.

Q3. What was your overall impression of the TASSIMO Vivy? Would you consider buying one yourself? If so, why? If not, why not?
My sister had an older Tassimo machine which I have used, this is much more compact and seemed to produce hotter drinks. I might consider it at a discounted price but I'm not sure if it would get enough use to justify it - my husband likes his "proper" filter coffee! It might be good for the children to make their own hot chocolate drinks although the drink sizes could be more generous!

Q4. Would you recommend the TASSIMO Vivy and variety of drink to friends and/or family if it came up in conversation? If so, why? If not, why not?
There certainly seemed to be a good choice of drinks and the machine was easy to use. If someone was considering buying one I would recommend it.

Q2: I tried the Americano and Suchard. The Suchard produces a lovely rich chocolatey drink, not sickly sweet though, but my favourite was the Amaricano because it made an enjoyable cup of black coffee.

Q3: I really liked the Tassimo Vivy. I found it very easy to use and its rather a sleek, stylish design.

Q4: Yes I would certainly recommend it to friends and family. I liked the wide choice of drinks available. Its so compact that it doesn't take up much space on the bench and it produces tasty beverages.

Hi firstly thanks for inviting us along we have not been to any metups before and we really enjoyed it

Q1. Which TASSIMO coffee morning did you attend? How did you find the morning overall?
Newcastle which was held at Gateshead we were made to feel welcome by the host as soon as we walked in. It was a very good choice of venue and well thought out. My daughter was entertained with playdough and there were lots of toys to play with for my youngest. We all felt at ease straight away

Q2. Which T-DISCS did you try? Which was your favourite and why?
I tried the caramel latte and the hot chocolate (not the cadburys one). My favourite one was the caramel latte it was really sweet and very creamy I have a sweet tooth so this was perfect for me. The hot chocolate was not sweet enough for me I would have propably prefered the cadburys hot chocolate as I noticed it came with two pods and I think the extra milk would have made it sweeter and frothy

Q3. What was your overall impression of the TASSIMO Vivy? Would you consider buying one yourself? If so, why? If not, why not?
My first impression was wow its small followed by where is the milk frother! Then I realised everything comes in a pod including the frothy milk which is very clever. For the latte I had there was just enough coffee and frothy milk for my taste. The other thing I would say is its not very good looking just plain black It would be nice to see it in bright colours like red. I wouldnt buy one myself even though the coffee is the best I have had. but I might hint for one for christmas because I do like Tassiomo pods and this would be a lovely gift for someone.

Q4. Would you recommend the TASSIMO Vivy and variety of drink to friends and/or family if it came up in conversation? If so, why? If not why not?
I would recommend Tassimo vivy and the variety of drinks as the tassimo pods are very tastey its the best coffee I have had and I would love to experience the creamy taste of the caramel latte again as well as discover the other flavours. The size is perfect as well because you often find coffee machines take over the kitchen with how bulky they are and then end up in the cupboard out the way

Q1. Which TASSIMO coffee morning did you attend? How did you find the morning overall?

Merton. A good morning of chat and almost more coffee (in its various Tassimo forms) than is good for one!!! Grin! Love my pinny!

Q2. Which T-DISCS did you try? Which was your favourite and why?

Tried just about all the coffee-based ones. Liked the Latte best - very creamy and a nice change from usual as-it-comes black coffee!

Q3. What was your overall impression of the TASSIMO Vivy? Would you consider buying one yourself? If so, why? If not, why not?

Liked it greatly. Compact, quick and easy-to-use. Almost fool-proof! Although I did find the barcode reader means that one cannot experiment with one's own mixes...that's a tad irksome - not being able to over-ride the 'intelligent but rigid' machine Hmm.

It's a modern day coffee-oriented take on a teasmade (not sure about that spelling) really, isn't it? Could imagine having one by the bed to wake up to! All you need to do now is modify it with a timer :-)

Q4. Would you recommend the TASSIMO Vivy and variety of drink to friends and/or family if it came up in conversation? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes I would and it makes it a lot safer a way for the DCs to make drinks once they get to tweendom (and beyond). I would say it would make a good pressie for a teen's lair as long as they have enough desk/shelf space for it to be safely stored!

Cambridge - lovely time, lovely company!

Q2. Which T-DISCS did you try? Which was your favourite and why?

Americano

Q3. What was your overall impression of the TASSIMO Vivy? Would you consider buying one yourself? If so, why? If not, why not?

It seemed quite hard to use, harder than others I've seen of a similar size. The coffee was nice.

Q4. Would you recommend the TASSIMO Vivy and variety of drink to friends and/or family if it came up in conversation? If so, why? If not, why not?

Probably not, purely because you have to use multiple pods to make a cappuccino or latte, and I don't like the idea of using powdered milk pods. If I was buying a coffee machine, I'd go for one that could froth fresh milk.

I tried a Breakfast Tea. I really liked it.

Q3. What was your overall impression of the TASSIMO Vivy? Would you consider buying one yourself? If so, why? If not, why not?

It was lovely to look at and make lovely drinks with very little effort. I would reccommend the Tassimo Vivy if anyone asked. I wouldn't personally buy one though as I think the pods are very expensive compared to say, a box of tea bags.

Q4. Would you recommend the TASSIMO Vivy and variety of drink to friends and/or family if it came up in conversation? If so, why? If not, why not?

I'd say that it makes lovely drinks but would point out how much the pods are.

Sheffield, it was a fun morning, it was exclusive and very relaxed.

Q2. Which T-DISCS did you try? Which was your favourite and why?
I tried the Americano's - Costa and ?? - I preferred the Costa one, although having had three in total I was bouncing off the walls.
DS also had a hot chocolate but it made him shudder!

Q3. What was your overall impression of the TASSIMO Vivy? Would you consider buying one yourself? If so, why? If not, why not?
I like that it is neat and small to sit on the work surface, I find the water reservoir a bit of a faff to fill and then slot into the machine

Yes, I would recommend it as a nice easy machine to use at home. There is a great choice of drinks on the Tassimo website too.

I thought it was quick to use and very easy to set up. Really easy to switch between drinks. The drinks are small though and not too hot - which suited me, but may be irritating for others. I would consider buying one as a treat for hot chocolates at home.
