:( KatieBMumsnet You will be missed! Good luck with the new job...but they won't drink as much gin be as naice as the MN Towers ladies!

Feedback on this year:

  1. I didn't get selected much :( And I know why not...it's cos too many other blardy MNers are signed up to the Insight and Product Trials lists these days :( Well, I was here first.... Grin Well, we did get the Mr Muscle kitchen touch up cleaner (surprisingly brilliant) and the Lyclear ('nuff said :( ) but that was it.

  1. I love the food trials, but there wasn't much actual food this year - it was all sauces, stock cubes etc. Please can we have breakfast cereals; staples such as pasta and rice (supermarket own brand and the posh stuff), flour and so on; crisps and snacks (for adults/older kids, not just Organix); and 'proper' chocolate. More cleaning and laundry products would be good too: carpet cleaners, stain removers etc.

  1. More household electricals please: vacuum cleaners, kitchen mixers, microwaves (I need a new one!), rice cookers, steamers etc

  1. Kitchen basics: knives, bakeware and so on.

  1. Toys for older children...unless I missed something, I don't think there were any this year? Board games, electrical hand-held devices, garden toys...??

  1. Wine and gin. Need I say more?

Can we have some more London events please? The goats cheese cookery session a few years ago, and tea with Davina last year, were two of my all-time MN absolute highlights.

Thanks :)

Bye Katie, hope the new roles great with lots of gin!

I love doing the product reviews, and its so interesting to read what people genuinely think about the products.

I'm open to testing anything to be honest - skincare is always good.

And events in Birmingham would be good - I'd have loved to have done Speedo or cheese, but its too far to come for a few hours

~ Post on this thread about what you've enjoyed doing insight-wise this year or what you've appreciated reading about

I've enjoyed reading about pretty much everything! It is always useful to see others opinions and just by the very fact that they are being tested / researched helps us find out about those products and puts them on our radar to try out even if we don't get picked for the product test.

The Mr Muscle cleaner was a good one - I still use mine all the time! Also loved Ecover wipes - I buy them a lot too now (was that this year or last year? might have been last year).

I enjoyed watching the George foreman videos as it opened my eyes to what it could be used for - fantastic ideas there!

~ Post on the thread any suggestions for product tests etc you'd like to see next year (no promises but we can try!)

I think more cleaning products (especially eco-friendly ones) and bigger product tests that give lots of people the chance to try out - gives it a fairer feel to the answers as I remember some things some people really don't like, whilst others do so it helps give a balance.

REALLY REALLY loved taking part in the Cadbury pebbles creation and loved that it was a creative task to do which was then judged so it helped me focus on putting lots of effort into it.

~ Join the panel - already a member and love it - thanks!

All the best to Katie B - thanks for all your hard work - you'll be missed. xxx

I liked getting cleaning products for dp to try out! Was really disappointed not to be chosen for the M&S shapewear.

Would love to see more things for teenagers - eg teen skincare products, and would love for more of the food tests to be more veggie-friendly.

We had an amazing time at Despicable me 2, made fabulous memories on the day which are revived by the adverts on at the moment for the DVD. I love seeing the product tests listed, I'd never ever have bought cif cleaner again after my previous experiences but my bathroom gleams (still wish I hadn't used it on the kitchen workshops though!)
Thanks mumsnet I love the hoping and checking of my email in case I've been selected. I'm sorry to see KatieB going, good luck in your new venture.

Surely it can't be this time of year again! Clearly, the best thing I got to do this year was check whether Butlins was family friendly :) lovely, it felt like we'd won the lottery. But, I also really enjoyed the test of the cold-pressed rape seed oil, I've become a bit of an evangelist.

I enoyed reading about hybrid cars, they didn't fully convince me, but it was really good to see them responding to the thread.

Thanks mumsnet (and thank you and bye bye to KatieMumsnet :( )

I enjoyed the Mr Muscle and have continued using it. I loved responding to the P&O Ferry survey but that was mostly as I won the prize draw for leaving a message on the thread. I was very excited at the prospect of test driving a Toyota or taking part in the Samsung product test, sadly I was not recruited to either. I would have liked to be a part of the Family Friendly restaurant tests as we visit Table Table frequently. I thought the reviews were great though.
~ Post on the thread any suggestions for product tests etc you'd like to see next year (no promises but we can try!) I would like to see more events North of the Border, Scotland seems to miss out quite a bit and in the Toyota thread only Edinburgh was available for pick up, what about Glasgow?
I would like to try out some items which I can pamper myself with, face creams, make up, lip balms, cleansing brushes etc.
I would like to mystery shop Family Friendly venues for Insight too. MAybe Frankie and Benny's, Pizza HUt, Brewers Fayre, Smyths toys etc.

I haven't been picked for anything this year and I do every bloody survey we are eligible for the only ones I've read have been the car ones as we are planning a new car at somepoint soon.
I'd like to see less geographic specific trials as I'm always too far away!

We really enjoyed the Cadbury's Pebble trial! Fun making the cake...and then eating it!

Hmmm...what would I like to see more of...

Perhaps some more gadget testing?

I've won a few things and been involved in a few product tests. I agree the Mr Muscle was a surprising hit. I never would have bought it before but do now, so their marketing has worked!

As for what to do in the future, more kitchen items would be good or more beauty items. The family friendly mystery visiting/shopping is interesting and quite good fun so happy doing that.

Well I got selected for the Cadbury pebbles but it ended badly as the dog got to the packet before we did Sad He is only small and they made him poorly.

In applying I just didn't make the connection that they would be pushed though the door.

I would like to see more family holidays tried and tested and more things for older children.

Good luck katieMumsnet, is your new job with Hendricks or the Botanist Grin

The Tesco school uniform test was brilliant, (and their uniform is holding up really well) another of those would be excellent.

Like another poster food tests, or bakeware tests would be right up my street. I always "need" new baking trays and cake tins.

A camping gear test of some kind would be great, we're always on the look our for new essential gadgets.

The things I read most often are the family friendly tests.

Thank you and best wishes to KatieBMN.

Ive enjoyed the more creative testing, such as the cooking and coming up with ideas and suggestions. I liked that there were clear age related tests that my children were too old for, and that I had to opt in for things. I think that works well with busy family life/work/health issues where sometimes you just cannot add one more little thing or the whole lot could come tumbling down!

One thing I wasn't entirely happy about was when there was a delay before products were sent for testing. (I then got ill and so busy and it just became difficult.) There was a very long and repetative survey (something about cars) which had about 4 sections of about 20 questions. That was annoying.

I really liked getting the Hellmanns and the steam cleaner. Felt like a winner getting those!

It would be good to have things to test whichcare particularly relevant to teenagers pets and outdoor clothing. Healthy snacks and drinks, gadgets, phone apps, things to make the world a better place, home decorating, lighting, flooring, crafts, magazines, educational products, storage ideas, multi purpose gadgets, solutions to common household problems (eg black mould in bathrooms; lack of storage space; clutter; ways to store/ display photos; school/club letters storage; twigs and pebbly shit would all be good to test on MN.

I enjoyed testing the Pampers pull ups and now use them for my son. I also wouldn't have found the Red Cross first aid app were it not for seeing it here to test and I think that's brilliant. I enjoyed reading recently about the National Trust venues - more days out/ attractions would be good to see reviewed. It would be good to have toys reviewed; games or play sets which can be expensive to buy when you don't know how worthwhile they will be. Baby feeding equipment especially things like beakers, travel cutlery, roll up bibs.. All sound wonderful but are they worth the money and easy to use. On the insight board it would he helpful to have a closing date for making comments, often I've intended on completing it on the computer rather than my phone and then found I've missed it. Or at least state closing soon. I would love to take part in some mystery shopping, I've found it helpful reading other reviews of this type. I agree with another comment that it's frustrating when things are sent out very slowly, it's hard to remember what the original criteria was and complete the test. I'm pleased I was selected to test some things and hope to do so again next year.

I didn't get selected for much this year Sad but in fairness, I think that's due to my reluctance to do anything that requires video or photos to be submitted [lazy]

I do enjoy the food and drink tests, especially when DS can be involved. He really likes being a tester and takes it very seriously! I can't remember if the Cadbury eggs were this year or last year, but they were very popular.

I'd love to one of the special days out, like the Despicable Me screening. I'll definitely be signing up for more of those next year.

Thanks MN for the opportunity to try stuff and good luck KatieB! Thanks

I've appreciated being led to the Red Cross app, I didn't know about it before and I am impressed that they've created a free app.

Or appreciated reading about?
I like watching the people carrier videos - we will need to buy one soon and it was good to see them in action by real people

What would you like us to product test next year?
Rainwear, outdoor gear, LittleLife back carriers - we like being outside :-)

~ Post on this thread about what you've enjoyed doing insight-wise this year or what you've appreciated reading about

I really enjoyed the Schwartz trial, we have carried on buying a couple of their packet mixes and introduced new meals into our weekly menus. I also like the Amazon family trial, I had seen it before on Amazon but was too scared to trial it... although the Subscribe and save didn't do much too me, I realised how much I loved the next day delivery on the products and how much I saved!

I enjoyed reading the Toyota adventure route thread... so many things that we can do and I didn't know about... on our list for next year! The recent thread about lube accepting your chances whilst TTC was interesting... I've passed that info onto a couple of friends who are currently TTC. The B&Q unloved rooms threads were a good read too.

~ Post on the thread any suggestions for product tests etc you'd like to see next year (no promises but we can try!)

Id like to see more film previews at different places in the country and more of the 'days out' type reviews up north, didn't apply for any of them because there wasn't anything in the midlands area. Also to trial more toys... sometimes its difficult to see real reviews of toys that are advertised.
