What does your LO's dream car look like? Share their ideas with Toyota and you could win a £50 voucher NOW CLOSED

This year is the 8th international Toyota Dream Car competition so if you can think up the coolest futuristic car you can, draw or paint it, then you could be off to the 8th Toyota Dream Car Art Contest world final in Japan next year. In addition to this Toyota are offering Mumsnetters and their LOs an additional chance to enter.

Here's what Toyota say: "Here at Toyota were always thinking ahead, wondering what the cars of the future will look like. It takes a lot of imagination to think of new designs, so weve decided to ask the people who might one day be driving those cars."

The competition is split into three categories:

  • Under eights
  • 8 - 11 year olds
  • 12 - 15 year olds

It would be great to get as many children involved so don't forget to tell their friends or even the teachers!

What you need to do?
Simply get your DCs to paint or draw their dream car and give it a cool background so we can imagine what this will look like on the road. Or in the sky or even underground.....Don't use a computer to do it .. as that's cheating! Grin And the paper you use must be A3 in size. Full T&Cs here

How do you send in entries?
Download the entry form here - Then post your design to Mumsnet (full address on T&Cs)
Please make sure all entries are signed by parent or guardian too.

How long do I have to enter?
MN competition closes on 16th December and our very own CarrieMumsnet will choose the top design from each age category. The three winners will each receive a £250 Amazon voucher.
All entries will then be sent to Toyota (GB) PLC and entered into the UK competition which closes on 24th January and followed by awards ceremony on 19th February 2014. If your DC entry makes if into the final of the UK competition this will be entered into the the worldwide contest and you never know the whole family could be jetting of to Japan for the final prize giving next summer.

For more details on this competition you can visit //www.toyota.co.uk/dream-car

Also, we'd love to see your creations on this thread too - post a pic of your LOs creation or just describe the features they'd like to see in a car of the future on this thread - £50 Love2shop voucher for one person who posts on this thread.

Thanks and good luck,

MNHQ

My three year old ds perfect car would be in the shape of Lightning Mc Queen and have lots of sweets in with a train track inside where he could race his engines - oh and an egg in there too ConfusedGrin

My son says his dream car would be made of cake, chocolate and sweets (a bit like a gingerbread house but a car) but one that grows back as you eat it.

Liquorice steering wheel, sugar pane glass windows, seats made of jelly beans, and the actual car from cake, biscuits and chocolate.

You will never get hungry on a car journey again!

We had a conversation this morning and he decided he wanted MiMo which, if I am allowed to translate, is Mater from Cars. I asked if the car should have room for his collection of cars and no, the car should look like Mimo.

DS1's dream car would be 'little.' Nothing else. No other properties. Just little. He can't actually draw though so think we won't enter this time.

Oooh ds1 (8) is going to go mad for this. I do have an idea of what he will say, though I will come back and directly report. A transformer. A real one, that transforms from a car to a robot. Also a lot of very bright colours - stripes, dots, stars in red, blue, green, yellow and gold. We will enter the competition now there's something to do on Saturday!.

DD 3 wants a car that runs on bubbles with furry seats and filled with sweeties. Simple pleasures!

My DS wants lots of buttons that light up and make noises. He wants the radio to play Disney Jnr sounds and for the light to go on when you press them from the outside (he is obsessed with buttons and cause effect type stuff.) He would like it to have blue smoke as it's emissions and he would like to not have to go to the petrol station with it.

Last year mine asked FC for an individual car which they could drive themselves to school, but it can fly and then when they got to school it would transform into a pen which they could write with. I think that they hate the school run as much as I do!

I just asked DS (2.10) - it should be black, yellow and red, go fast over bums, go 'brum brum' and fly...not much to ask!

Ds2 wants his dream car to be a triple-decker "so I can go upstairs to sleep in a bed when we drive to somewhere at night."

And it will, of course fly.

And float.

And it will have stripes.

And smell minty. (Confused

Ds1, age 8 (on Monday):

It would be a racing car with Optimus Prime's bits on his head that stick up (the silver ones). It would be black and white like Bumblebee's (the transformer) pattern. It would transform into a robot. It would talk to you when you were driving it. It has a secret base like a secret passage where you can hide. It drives for you, by itself. It can shoot fire out of it.When it's a robot it's good at boxing. It has 2 gold swords as well.

i rather like that myself.

We're still waiting for our first little one to make an appearance at the end of the year but my husband has already told me that our little one would like a nicer car than we have at the moment. Apparently the baby would appreciate a faster car that has moe space and that is convertible to make use of the few weeks of the year in summer when we would actually be able to use it down! The baby is also apparently a fan of the colour red and would appreciate having heated seats despite having to use a car seat!

My youngest DD who is 3 said she would have an oval shaped black car with sparkly silver unicorns and pink ballerinas. Inside it would have seats, seatbelts, a magic wand, sweeties and some special shoes to drive in!

It's a bit sick when car manufacturers use children to advertise cars when, from memory, a couple of thousand children are killed or seriously injured by them each year in the UK.

Please don't forget that "Sponsored Links" on this site are essentially adverts.

mrscog · 27/11/2013 06:13

Err spork it's not the car manufacturers fault that maniacs drive badly though! And Toyota invest huge amounts in safety.

True, "it's not guns that kill people..." - but we live in a car culture where our kids often can't even play outside because car traffic makes it unsafe. Cars are not good for kids!

Car manufacturers do invest a lot in safety for the people inside the cars. Those on the outside don't buy the cars, so they are less interested.

Well, DD has been looking out for a purple car for me for ages so I think it would have to be purple. It also has to feature snacks (choc, sweeties etc) and have CBeebies somewhere.
