Toyota is currently running the Toyota Positive movement and would love to know how Mumsnetters would use a Toyota Prius Plug In Hybrid to brighten up London or your local area for a day. Here's what they say:

"We're inspiring uplifting gestures and selfless acts of thoughtfulness by combining the good-natured public spirit with the positive power of the new Prius Plug-in Hybrid. Whether it's releasing a boot-full of bright balloons next to a dreary bus stop or taking your elderly neighbour to the hairdressers; post your positive idea here by 6th May and the Toyota team will choose the best positive idea to bring to life. Be sure to support your favourites with a comment!"

So please share your ideas for bringing some positivity to your local area, including any fun and selfless acts your DCs would like to do.

Those of you who comment and are based in London will be in with a chance of winning the use of a Prius Plug-In Hybrid* for a day along with everything it takes to bring your idea to life (on the weekend of 11/12 May). For those of you not in London, please also share your ideas on how to brighten up your local area, you could win a £200 Love2shop voucher. To make our lives easier Please do state where in the World you're from when posting Grin

Need inspiration? Visit //www.toyotapositive.com for some uplifting and entertaining stories of people spreading positivity.

Please note if your idea is selected as a winning entry, your day with the Prius Plug-In Hybrid will be filmed and/or photographed and may be used in various marketing material, so please only post if you're happy to do this.

Thanks and good luck,

MNHQ

Deliver food to my local food bank

Sorry, I'm in NW England, food banks are important to me as my bible study group donated food for Lent instead of giving stuff up.

Just me?
-How about taking supermarket orders for people with mobility problems and delivering their shopping.
-Taking people to church or to vote.
-bringing bedding plants to liven up the gardens of people who can't bend to plant things, or building them a raised bed so they can keep gardening.
-taking a friend's children out for the day so they can have some time to themselves.
-make a big vat of soup, separate it into individual portions in sealed tubs and deliver to new mums/poorly people/carers/elderly people.

Not from London but south England.

As a family we support a local charity that provides support to children who have lost a parent. I would have liked the workers and volunteers to have delivered a big box of doughnuts and flowers to know that they are very much appreciated. They spend so much of their time helping it would be lovely to give a little back.

From south east Wales & I would pack up my son & husband and head to the beach with gloves & garbage bags to clean up the mess.

A person in costume giving out helium balloons or cupcakes to the children/ adults in my town. From the south east.

North West. A twist in the food bank one. Delivering parcels in rural areas as even the satellite ones in smaller towns are making big distances for people to come. We often deliver with work.

East Anglia. It's very frivolous but I'd love to drive around town with several bubble machines streaming bubbles out behind me :o

I'd either need an army of cars, or one with a trailer attached that was kitted out with comfortable seats and a roof cover in case of showers! (Possibly with balloons and banners too, just to make it pretty.)

I'd then put a bus number in the car window and drive along that route, picking up passengers for free and taking them to their bus stop destination.

Means everyone would get a seat and be able to travel in relative comfort, and they could keep their bus money to buy themselves a treat with!

And even those people we couldn't fit in would at least get to see an interesting looking bus driving past without being able to stop, as opposed to the normal, overloaded, generic bus sailing by.

However, I'm in West Yorkshire...

London- Take people who struggle to go out shopping so they can get all their essentials without having to worry how they will get it home. There are a few who I watch struggle getting home pushing their trolleys.

from yorkshire.
I'd fill the back of the car with small pots full of brightly coloured plants - tulips, crocus, iris, daffodils etc and pop them outside all of the local shops on out very grey high street, one one each aide of every door (two per shop), each charity shop would also get a brightly coloured hanging basket full of contrasting flowers

Arrange a lovely sunny day so that the children at the special needs school near to us can go to the park and enjoy a picnic and games.

London again - as a roving vehicle for handing out free (from supermarkets) food rather than throw it away. I guess going to areas with known homelessness etc... possibly in conjunction with the Salvation Army or some other organisation that has a handle on poverty, homelessness etc...

"releasing a boot-full of bright balloons next to a dreary bus stop" - that's a really bad idea, environmentally speaking. The Marine Conservation Society and RSPA both campaign against balloon releases. So please don't do that, Toyota!

I'm from Manchester and I have a few ideas.

You could hold a 'Number Plate Raffle'.....who ever turns up at a charitable even,t pays a pound and enters their number plate into a Toyota Tumbler, whose ever number plate is drawn out wins a Toyota prize. You could do in line with a Cinema releasing their newest car themed film.

You could visit a Childrens Home and take them all out for a Go Kart day.

You could take one lucky competition winner (child) out on a Toyota Sponsoured Hot Air Balloon ride.

Toyota could donate a car to the (maybe single) Mum/Dad who has selflessly helped others in the community.

Toyota could, in conjunction with a toy company, hold a child's competition in which a child designs a toy car. All donations of the purchase go to charity this is my favourite

I love the idea of putting flowers along the high street.

I would fill the boot with flowers, dress my kids up (they are rather sweet) and drive them round our deprived area of East London, stopping the car for them to get out and give a flower to anyone who looks bored/ too busy/ lonely. I would attach a little tag to each flower saying, "You are precious..."

from the Midlands:

I would drive round all the local parks to meet up with Bear Grylls type people ie Scouts/Guides/Play Rangers etc dropping off wood, marshmallows and flasks of hot chocolate so every child in the area could go along to a campfire, sing songs, watch the stars and walk home.

Free little tubs of strawberries and blueberries handed out along the seafront on a sunny day (just as nice and not as messy as ice cream). Hopefully would encourage people to enjoy a bit more fruit than they otherwise might have done that day. I'm from East Sussex.

I would take alternative bounty bags to the local maternity hospital which contain a selection of nice baby bits, a book and most importantly every bag would contain a chocolate gold medal with 'well done' on it.

I would also at the same time make tea for all the MWs on the ward and give them an afternoon tea buffet that lasted all day.

Don't know if it's a good idea, but maybe one or two people would appreciate a nice bag of treats after giving birth. Smile

Along with university colleagues, I would have a word with our local garden centre and get them to donate a load of stuff, so children at a local school could grow their own food, and I would use the car to collect and deliver all the gear. We would then plant it all up with the kids and teach them a bit about sustainability and the environment.

my son loves baking and he loves flowers. there is a park in the centre of the area where there are some flowers, but thats it really, so some flowers elsewhere would brighten up the place a bit, and i know my son would love to help plant some. also he would love to help me bake cupcakes, which we would give out to people who live by us, just to make them smile and brighten their day
