A local school is advertising for learning support 'volunteers' to create a small team of helpers. The duties include the supervision, counselling and discipline of pupils. Liaison with parents and professionals such as speech therapists/occupational therapists. They are also expected to attend meetings to discuss progress and assist in implementing programmes designed by EP's and SLT's. No qualifications are required.
This just seems a way of providing support for children with SEN without paying for it. What happens to the funding provided by LA's for SEN provision?

Shocking! Money saving exercise no doubt. People so desperate for opportunity to gain experience and get foot in door that they will probably get the volunteers too!
