Hi, I'm new to the board. DS1 has autism, fits etc. DS2 was originally diagnosed with aspergers and crohns. But now, after finally seeing a specialist about his strange walk and wonky feet it turns out hes got cerebral palsy.
Im so mixed up - I'm happy that weve got to the bottom of his eating problems and walking, but I'm so sad that hes been dismissed up to now - hes 7 - as a lazy walker, and his chewing problems were behavioural. I feel really guilty that weve tried to make him eat and walk. He actually needs an operation on his leg, and when his new buggy came he was thrilled cos he wont have to walk far. Ive just got on with all my boys extra needs so far, but I can't stop crying today. Sorry to waffle, especially being new, found this site looking for info on CP.

Hi Skipsmum. You sound like a very lovely mum. Please do not beat yourself up- you did not know until you got his diagnosis so do not feel bad about "pushing" him.I have ONLY recently started posting on this board re dds SN and have found everyone here very helpful and supportive.Of course you need to let off steam and waffle at times, thats what it is for.I know there are quite a few mums on here with dcs with cp and am sure they will be able to offer support and advice on CP.Welcome to mumsnet and keep posting.Hugs Wrinkly xxxx

Thanks for reply! Didn't realise CP and autism could go together - Iknow lots of parents of autistic children but none whos child has CP. Hes seeing a physio tomorrow, and were waiting for a speech and language assesssment appointment, and a brain scan. But everything takes so long to come through. I feel much better having put my thoughts into words, so thanks for reading!

I didn't know they go together either, my ds was dx'd with CP first & only recently with autism.
As Wrinklytum said, don't be too hard on yourself, I hope the physio & SALT are helpful
Take care xx

Just posting can make things feel better. You have been doing a great job, how else would he have got a dx at all? Welcome to MN
