Toxoplasmosis-how it affects development?

Have a niece born last month, and sil was diagnosed with toxoplasmosis two months before delivery. DN is confirmed blind in one eye and her brain is apparently not developing and doctors say she will likely experience epileptic fits in life. Has anyone had any similar experience? Can you share with us what is to be expected? What sort of difficulties, and how can we remain positive, and help with her quality of life?
Any avice greatly appreciated.
