Preparing DS for operation

Hi

DS will be having an operation soon, but I would like to prepare him for the OP, as it's a major thing.

Anything visual as DS does not understand a lot of words. Child friendly, DS like watching TV. So any cartoon videos about operations.

DS is not fussed about hospitals, changes into his routines, so I'm looking for a story or video that will actually.. Kind of explain the child receiving General an aseptic (sp) going into the theatre room and operating on the child.

Thanks.

It's not totally what you're looking for but the first "Madeline" book has her having her appendics out, there is lots of pictures. The movie openings with the same scenes if you think it will be easier to follow, but it's not a cartoon. Sadly the Madeline cartoon doesn't have the episode.

There is also this on youtube, again not really what you want, but close.

DS had surgery under GA a few weeks ago and the hospital invited us to go round the children's ward a few days in advance. The hospital play assistant showed us around. We had a look at the beds, playroom, quiet room, etc. She later explained to him in very simple language what was going to happen and showed him pictures. DS was feeling less anxious afterwards.
She asked us what sort of thing he liked to play and we said technology so on the day when he went to have his GA the play assistant distracted him with Angry birds on the iPad while the medics did their thing.
I wonder if your hospital do this sort of thing.
