It said on our letter that it would take up to 10 weeks but I was pleasantly surprised to have money in my account after 3 weeks for my dd.

We did put a lot of effort in to completing the form and included supporting information e.g. Dr's letters etc. My dd's physiotherapist also completed a section of the form saying in what ways she needed extra help and support over and above a "normal" child of her age needs. I think that all helped us.

What sometimes holds things up is if you haven't included enough information and they have to write to Dr's, physios etc to get further information.

Good luck. I hope you get it soon.

Sounds like it can be the luck of the draw then?.

Only thing I included was a OT report, typically I got a cahms report letter today a few days after I had sent the forms.

Would the OT report be sufficient do you think?

Both my claims took less than a month. I had so many reports for both boys and contact details of professionals I don't think in either case they needed to contact anyone so maybe that's why mine was fast

You can forward on your cahms letter - just say its part if your claim

That's good to know.

I listed as many drs plus ot and senco all people that dd is under. 10 in total. I will forward the letter as you say.

Everything with SN is s waiting game. Urrr

Same here. It was less then a month from when they got the details. I too put in all the reports we had - there were a lot.

The DWP didnt contact anyone else - on the letter we got it said that they had taken the info from the form we submitted and reports.

I was surprised at how simple it was (despite the form being a pain to fill in) and we got a good allowance as well.

Good luck

Excellent. My fingers are crossed it happens like that for us

Are you usually told once they receive the forms? If so how post? Call? Text?

First lot of forms never arrived.

Yes - they send a letter to say they are considering the claim. But you can also call them to ask if the form and documents have been registered on their system.

I just tried to call Was told that I will get a letter so she won't be checking the system for me.

I called them to say my portage letter had been sent in, they was helpful and confirmed they had it. I also had the money for my toddler go in before they told me he had been awarded! I was shocked as he hadn't long turned two. Why I was shocked god knows as he's under portage can't talk and being assessed for a statement

We waited 11-12 weeks. Then another 12 weeks when we asked for a reconsideration (we were refused).we then appealed (as we were also turned down on reconsideration) and it took only about a month for them to change their mind. So a total of 28 weeks :-/
Good luck with yours.

Dd's main problems are with movement hypotonia/hypermobility so tires refuses to walk ect.

Learning disabilities so needs watching as runs off will talk to anybody invades personal space ect.

No perception. Fine motor problems.

Needs help with dressing ect.

Everything needs prompting as she has dysexecutive problems.

But not much of a diagnosis as far was expecting a ADD diagnosis. Cahms said she does fit but they think there is more to it. So will be seen by neurodevelpmental pead.

Everything sn is a long drawn out process

Sorry me again.

Still haven't heard anything back from them.

How long is the wait for the initial response telling you they have received your claim?

I am not sure they told us they got the claim. Was a couple if years ago though.
I sent everything with special delivery and knew they had received it. Have you sent it as special delivery or recorded?

Report
hashtagwhatever · 06/08/2014 12:38

I didn't think to send it special delivery

When I sent mine in, I called a few days later. They said that they probably had got it but it was taking at least a couple of weeks for claims to be registered on their system. They then send the acknowledgement letter.

It was quite easy to get through to the DWP so you could call them every few days to check.
