Preparing for the Annual Review

Our semi-annual review is due October. Daughter will be 5 in September, and starting reception

We appealed for ABA and got it outside of the hearing by mutual settlement(the hearing was adjourned, we got talking to HT and she agreed).

The school are implementing ABA but they still aren't sure and throughout the meetings and workshops keep saying 'oh we do that too'. So I am a bit sceptical that in Oct they might say to the LEA that child doesn't need ABA.

In preparation for this review, I am planning to have David Urani (who did our initial assessment too), come and assess. Is it worth taking Fiona with us in the review? Our ABA consultant will attend the review.

Thanks
SA

In that situation I would say yes its worth having Fiona. Our first AR after winning ABA at tribunal was a three hour blood bath. It was horrendous with unlawful suggestions galore. I wish we had had Fiona as it was horribly stressful (LA was going to do a reassessment of statement with obvious pre decided outcome of no ABA and moving him back on to provision the Tribunal had just decided was inadequate on pretext moving to school changed everything). We had months of threatening JR / letters to senior people in Council etc before backed down on basis had nothing else to offer and would have lost a JR / 2nd tribunal on same provision. If you are not confident about school then go prepared.
