Dd2(AS) auditioned for a summer workshop thing. She enjoys all thigns stage-y, and sings well. But she is only 7, and aside from general chorus line in school productions, she has never been a 'part'

She went in to the auditions calmly (young children's auditions were a group affair - much getting to know each other, singing raucously and doing a
Silly accents etc to break the ice) and seemed to have a ball. There were many, many children who have been attending these workshops for several years, so I (and she) was expecting a general fill-in chorus part.

She's only got a proper speaking part just a tiny one, but still, actual lines and more than one

She is chuffed to bits, and I am Grin

I can't believe how she goes striding into these things, comfortable and collected even though she knows no one (no one form her school is taking part, nor from her ballet school. The company is based in the next big-ish town over, and clearly never the twain shall meet!). And she's so tiny.

I am so proud of her, she's bloody fab. -wish her school would realise she's not the shrinking violet they seem to want to pigeonhole her as--

Thanks Polter.

Yes, that's it. Whereas her school are determined to see it as 'doesn't like to stand out and be different' (because she doesn't likened help and support to be overt).

Oh well, maybe one day....

And in the meantime, she can do external stuff like this. She's off designing her costume at the moment Grin. I have 6 days to break the news she doesn't really get a say Grin

Thanks everyone.

I heard today she may have a singing solo as well, but they want to wait and see how she does in rehearsals. Her voice is good enough, but she may end up a bit overwhelmed with it all snort

She has only ever sung 'solos' as duets/trios at school - school policy to share out the 'good' parts, so I think in the audition she was apprehensive about singing by herself.

Once she gets there they won't be able to stop her, I reckon Grin

I am just printing out/marking up her script for her now.
