Just had DS's end of year report from school, SEN unit he's attended for the last 3 years. They made quite clear last sept they didn't want him to go to the feeder ASD school, don't want kids with learning difficulties, just ASD.
The report is not worth wiping your arse with. Lots of comment bank sentences that don't fit together, but quite amusingly
" Mini Ricky had made good progress this year......" But all the things they say he can do, are actually worse than his report from last year.
For example, last year mini rinky recognises his number 1-10 and can work within these numbers. This year it's number 1-5. He can rote count to 10.last year he is working up to 20.
Last year, mini rinky knows all his letters and phonic sounds and can make phonetic attempts at words. This year he can only " copy write"
Luckily we had a fab transition meeting with his new school last week, where he showed his new teacher he can write using a phonic approach and write everything she asked him to by sounding out and he's just been jumping on the trampoline and rote counted to 50 on his own.
The report has a reply comment strip , I want to write " fuck you rubbish school, we're so glad he's done with you, thank you for wasting a year of his life and thank goodness he's going somewhere where they know what they are doing " but I won't. Just won't return the slip and eat all the chocs I did buy for them myself

Sounds like the future is positive though. Surely you can be both confident in your decision and relieved and move forward with hope!?

Yes, he's shown what he can do to his new teacher, which is way more than his assessments show from present unit.
The new school wanted to know all strategies to use to make him work, what upsets him, what motivates him, what makes him happy Etc way more questions than his present school have ever asked.
We know that starting from September mini rinky is going to thrive.
You question all the time if what you are doing is right, well, we've fought so hard and done all our research, fuck off rubbish school, hello the right school and success for mini rinky.

Our report last year was clearly a copy and paste job as it even had another child's name in it. This is an indi specialist school too Sad.Hoping for better this year.
