Why can't these people spend a day with you to see how your day actually is.

I have asked for a reconsideration though

Went to the advice shop to get help. DT2 appeal date was set for 4/10/06 and obvioulsy todays result for DT1- refused. They will represent us on the day

ARGHHHHHHHHHHH

i thought DT1 already had DLA?

its a nightmare but I wholeheartedly think they refuse so quickly because so many arseholes who dont need DLA try to claim it without reason

Good point Fio. Be gone arseholes!

I was refused twice, asked for reconsideration, then refused, I then appealed and won, don't give up

i am currently awaiting a reconsidered opionion.

DS was getting higher rate care componant. but when they renewed it it was lowered to middle rate care and lower rate mobility.

i have asked for reconsideration and am waiting to hear.
I agree that maybe they are getting a little stricter because of the people who read articles like those in the mail recently about all of us making out we have autistic children just so we can claim a small fortune (pah!) on DLA.

i really do wish we could send in a video of "one day in ds's life" rather than answering how many minutes of help he needs when goign to the toilet.

if only they could've seen the gagging and voimiting at my table this evening [sighs]

Oh they're so and so's aren't they? Ia ctually felt guilty when DS1 got his, because of all the grief others get

Apparently cerebra have an excellent guide to DLA (and the forms) on their website, according to the NAs local newsletter afore me. you can get a copy by e-mailing [email protected], and it's not just for brain injured kids, it's a general guide. Hopee that helps someone.

When I fill in thse things (as I used to do often at work), I print of a copy of the criteria and make sure I cover it repeatedly throughout with examples. It works with job applications too!

Given how hard it is to get an answer from a Paed, do you really think there's all these false claimants out there? At least post-dx ones? I mean, I get back pain and stuff in terms of fakery but.....

fattiemumma · 29/08/2006 22:54

considering how long and hard the struggle is to actually get anywhere no i don't think there are that many fake's out there.

but there have been a fair few articles about this apparant abundance of parents who claim their kids have ASD or whatever for no other reason than to claim DLA.....i think maybe those pen pushers who decide our fate read them and think that maybe there is some truth in the story and make it twice as blody difficult.

Oh Jambuttie

Are you not going to appeal the refusal?

I saw those articles too. It's always kids like sam, the HFA / AS kids they refer to. Yeah, coz my life is like so easy with him! Perhaps they'd like to take him for a day?
