Bum-wiping! Will it ever end??? (Well, except my own of course..........

Feel free to join me in a whinge about wiping bums - be they large or small!

Ds1 (6yrs) still has trouble with wiping. He tends to forget completely unless reminded several times. Tired of clearing up the mess I've started wiping for him again. There are still days though when ds1 goes without me noticing, forgets to wipe, and then I not only have dirty clothes to wash but I also have ds2 (3.5yrs) following me around the house announcing " did a messy job and it smeeeeeeeeeeels!"

Ds2 is still no closer to toilet-training and so still needs regular nappy changes. If I'm lucky it will stay in the nappy. If I'm not I end up following a poo trail around the house to find ds2 and change him.

Dd is only 5mths old and so she of course needs changing too.

All three of them are also in nappies at night so it feels like I'm permanently dealing with other people's bums. Thankfully dh can deal with his own.

We have the same problem with dd and her wiping.

The cp suggested maybe a small hamd mirror so they can what they are doing. Which makes sense to me and we have just found out dd has some mild dyspraxic difficulties too so I guess the co-ordination is a problem for lots of our kids.

Well thank goodness you've toilet trained your dh at least. But that's alot of bum wiping in your household.

I'm still wiping ds's bum, he does try but he gets very upset if any ends up on his hands, and he never does it right in the first place, so it looks like I'll be doing it for some time to come. He goes through several pairs of pants a day because he always leaves it to the very last minute to use the toilet and surprise surprise it's often to late. After using the toilet, he'll ran over to me, bend over and ask if there is any poo up there. Not a pretty sight I can tell you!

Same here too CT-DS (7) refuses to wipe in case he gets it on his hands. He is also insisting I stay with him in the toilet at all times. He is getting anxious about the return to school and the toilet phobia always re-emerges at times of high anxiety.

nope will never end. Sometimes I think of that and imagine ds1 as a 30 year old having his bum wiped. Somehow its poignant.

ds1 has tried to wipe, but he takes the toilet roll and drops it down the toilet- doesn't seem to realise there's a middle bit

Know how you feel. I think I have changed a total of 6 pooey nappies today, two of which had leaked onto clothes, bedclothes and my pillow - yeuch!. DH fortunately also manages his own but they still smell bad.

Coppertop

I know this thread isn't meant to be funny but it make me LOL as I can relate to it so much

You poor thing, all those smelly bums to wipe!

I have exactly the same problem (though in smaller numbers!). DS aged 6 insist I wipe is bum. He is now OK to go into toilets on his own (not communals ones, single ones where I can see him go in) but will poke his head around the door, in a crowded shop/cafe and shout:

"Mummy, I've done a poo - come and wipe my bum!"

I detest wiping bums, 'specially as I have morning sickness, but I kind of think its better to carry on for a while rather than have him emerge from loo covered in poo!

Srangely, DS and DD always poo in synchrony so I often have two pooey bums to clean within a five minute slot!

I'd forgotten about the synchronised pooing. Dd on her changing mat while a little voice calls from the toilet "Muuuuuuuuum! I need some heeeeeelp!"

Idid LOL at your post, Macwoozy. Are you sure you haven't got my ds1 living with you? The poo gets smeared on to the walls if it touches ds1 and then when he adopts the touch-toes position...Urrrggh!

It's one of those times where I find myself thinking "But this isn't what I signed up for!" Silly I know.
