Supporting evidence for appeal- Children with DS!

Hi there, I've not been around much recently what with the school hols and everything else that fills my little life to the max!!

As some of you may know, I requested that Amelia was assessed for statutory assessment as ATM she is due to start Reception in September with no additional classroom support and only approx 20minutes support outside the classroom about 3 times a week. The LEA have turned her down saying the school are currently meeting her needs! So I have to appeal!
Out of interest and for possibly use by myself, the Downs Syndrome Medway Group(due to become Kentwide), and anyone else who needs it- I am thinking of setting up a document of evidence of what other children with DS are currently getting in their educational setting.
Firstly what does everyone think of the idea? Do you feel it would be beneficial?

Secondly, would the mums on here with children with DS be willing to give a small write up including their names and addresses?

Sorry, just throwing some ideas around as I haven't even started on the appeal paperwork yet and IPSEA are too busy to give their full support ATM!

Your input would be much appreciated.

Thank you.

I'd happily do whatever you need me to do.

FYI - I was turned down , started the statementing process while Lottie was at nursery, a few months before her 3rd birthday. Was refused as she was "developing age appropriate skill", to which i replied, in some many words - 'bollocks'!!

She was then 'awarded' 10 hours a week.

She starts 'big' school in Sept and at the review it went up from 10 hours to 25 hours a week.

Anything I can do to help, you know I will.

NO additional support? Oh FFS.

Something the school could do if supportive is observe and record all the reasons why she is not accessing a suitable education without support.

I'm actually open mouthed at your LEA. NO additional support? That's criminal.

jimjams - it's partly because of the school's report that she has been refused. They say she does not need any addional suppport and as/when they feel she does, they will request a statement. I suppose they think she can manage with no additional support in the classroom and only a few 20 minute sessions of 1 to 1.

I mean....they are experts on my child you know- 2 staff have been on a day course specialising on SALT with children with DS!
