And she was hysterical right from the start when they called her name.

I phoned them yesterday and asked them would they consider sedating her and they said no, so i just thought right then ive warned you what she,s like.

Staff were coming from other depts to see what all the noise was as she was screaming so much, it took ages to do as she kept pulling at the wires.

It was very distressing and i wished that they would have sedated her but at least its all over now just got DS and his operation on thursday and the nurse who thinks "he,s not a problem you leave it to the professionals""!

Sorry to hear it didn't go smoothly Jenk - hope they got some good results though and you won't have to do it again for a while.

Re: the sedation - ordinary sedation would duff the results, I think. They tried melatonin on DD1 and she pretty much did what your LO did. Copes OK with EEG without, strangely, but the sensation of people fiddling with your head when you're too tired to defend yourself really freaked her out. So might not have been any better with sedation.

so sorry to hear this jenk ds had to go through this just over a year ago the nurses have no idea do they how distressing it is for them ds sweats a lot so the more he creied the sweateyer he got wich reulted in the glue coming of his hair and body and the micropore tape i got very angry with the nurse wich im proud of

you would of thought by now they would have a hat or something with all the wires attached to it so they only have to put the hat on them

all i can say is its over with now thank god for you and try to do some fun stuff with her to replace them nasty memories

I know this wont be helpful to anyone who has had a traumatic time already due to an eeg(my dd included) but I thought I would add this anyway. But, my friend is a reflexologist (and an OT, arent I lucky) and she did reflexology on her child whilst they were having the eeg and it worked wonders. really calmed them down and was fantatsic. I hope this might help people in the future
