Aspergers and Divorce

I have a friend who has a daughter (15) with Aspergers. My friend may be either divorcing or temporarily seperating from her DH. My understanding of the condition is very limited but i do know that one of the main things in Js condition is the issue with change.

What i want to know is, how can i help if my friend and her husband do split up? (we are all very close, so feels like my mum and dad are divorcing)

Luckily, J is very comfortable with myself, my DP and my boys and is quite happy to stay over here sometimes but other than that i don't really know what i can do or how to explain to her. Her mum is in a mess (there are other issues not just with her dh that she can't share with J because she just will not understand)

Thanks essbee, thats really helpful. she won't move anywhere (at least not immediatly) so that won't change, just that her dad won't b with her. They did all get together for a family meal out last night and it was really positive so who knows what the next step is?

Will try and keep her posted as i am prob in a better position to dilute thinsg than her immediate family at mo.

Thanks again

how about social stories? here and I would second the thing about keeping updates, also using pictures of faces cut from mags with fiffering expressions to enable the child to describe their emotions and concersns?
