I can only think of 3 - Jordan, David Cameron and India Knight. Can anyone add to this list? I'm really curious and I'd like to know what sort of care and education they choose (presuming money's not a big problem)

Keith Duffy (Boyzone and Corrie) has a daughter with autism. He left Corination Street in order to look after her.

I think Keith Duffy has a daughter who is autistic. Nick Hornby, of course, and the author David Lodge has a son with DS (grown up now though). Ian Rankin has a son who is quite severely disabled. I will keep thinking...

Nick Hornby's son is autistic. IIRC he has set up special care homes for autistic children?

Nick Hornby co-founded a school with some other parents, www.treehouse.org.uk His son goes there (so does DS!). He continues to support the school including a big donation towards the building of their new premises and he was at the Summer Fair today.

as already mentioned, Damon & Georgie Hill, they have a teenage son with DS. I think Ian Rankin's son has Angelman's syndrome (causes profound and mulitple disabilities).

Report
tamum · 24/06/2006 19:24

Yes, it's Angelman, but a very severe form of it by the sounds of it.

Brian Rix has a daughter with DS. She is middle aged by now. I found it strange when he mentioned that he no longer sees her. It made me wonder why.

The scottish journalist/presenter Muriel Greys daughter has a brain injury, which she suffered as a young child - resulting in a disability similiar to CP. Her daughter was schooled at the Craighalbert Centre, which is Scotlands only conductive education school, from birth to 7 years, shes now to old for the centre.

This is really interesting, I didn't know about loads of these people, it's making me feel less isolated, which probably sounds really sad

that bloke who sang 'Don Quixote' in the 80s with the spiky hair... he has a son with ds.. god what was his name?

when Cecil Parkinson shagged his secretary and there was all that fuss and malarkey years back, the daughter had aspergers. but he didn't speak to her (I think cos of the scandal as much as the AS)
