My son has been offered a place at a special school. He was originally offered a place at mainstream but we decided not to take it. I contacted my ed psych and told her this, she told me to contact the special school i had asked her about. I did and the principal was very nice and i asked him could me and dh and ds2 come up to see him. We went up over a week agoadn explained ds2 didnt have a statement yet and he siad that didnt matter as paperwork can be done afterwards. Ds2 met the teacher and the other kids and the principal explained they needed another member of staff before they could take ds2. But that they would definetly take him if they had another member of staff. So me and dh went away hoping that would come true but not getting our hopes up too much. Anyway the principal phoned today to say hes got a place and would i go up next week to go over things with the teacher such as what ds2 eats, transport and uniform etc. This is so brill as far as i know there are 6 or 7 other kids in the reception class and 4 of them are are on the autistic spectrum also. He will get the proper help he needs. This is so brill, me and my family are so chuffed!

Thanks coppertop it really really is. If i had known i coukld just contact the special school in the first place i would have when he was diagnosed in February, i cant understand why the ed psych didnt tell me i could just contact the school myself when she came out to asess ds2 in Feb. Ive been worrying for months thinking i was going to have to take the mainstream nursery place as i had no other choice.

He will! I think JMG is fantastic. He's very calm, but quite firm, and the class 1 classroom is lovely. So spacious.
