Ds has been going to a music group for over about 2 years, the woman who runs it is lovely, she has introduced a lot of makaton into the session, and really tries to get ds involved when he struggles.

There is a bit at the beginning of the group where she will take a couple of children by the hand and walk them around the circle to shake all the other children's hands. Ds has never been able to do it, I walk him around, and most times, he just won't go and gets very upset.

Today she took his hand, and he walked around with her, and shook everyone's hand and beamed at me as he came back!

It was such a moment that everyone cheered. I am so proud of him.Smile

I know, I keep grinning, thinking of him tottering around with her, he looked like he'd been doing it all his life!

On top of this he had a great session at preschool, partly because they have agreed with my suggestion of him starting later and finishing earlier. There was a little girl who drew him a picture of a fire engine, and was being so sweet with him. Ds's 1-1 and I explained to the little boy who kept asking, 'why does that boy have a baby chair?', 'why has that boy got a baby cup', 'why won't you talk to me'.......etc etc that ds has a problem with his muscles, so he gets tired and needs to sit in a big strong chair, and that ds talks with his hands and will have a special machine that he will be able to talk to him with (eyes like saucers at that one!) etc. He was great and asked if ds would like to play ball, which we did with ds's 1-1. It was a really good day.

Thankyou everyone, it is lovely being able to come on here and celebrate our dc's achievements.

Dh and I have celebrated by drinking a glass of prosecco and eating all some of the Lindt sea salt chocolate, that my lovely friend left outside my door yesterday.
