Hi all. I am going through parts 2 and 3 of my sons statement. There is no mention of OT in school. I have a referral for OT but the ed psych report and salt report have recommended seeking advice from OT and/or physio. What part of the statement should this be written into. They have suggested strategies to I prove his koror skills but no mention of what these strategies are, who will develop them and implement them.

Ant thoughts and advice?

Educational needs should be in parts 2/3 and non educational needs in parts 5/6. You may find that LAs will try and put SALT and OT in parts 5/6 but generally these are considered educational needs and should be in part 2/3.

I think it may be hard to get OT written in if he does not have recommendation from an OT for therapy though. If I read your post right it is other professionals that have suggested an opinion from the OT is needed? LAs are also very reluctant to agree to OT as in general the NHS does not deliver OT in most cases (due budget cuts etc) and it then costs the LA money for an OT to be involved with your child. If they don't write it in (or if they put it in sections 5/6) then they don't have to provide it. You may well find yourself having to fight this one at tribunal and if so then consider getting a private OT report if possible.
