If you wrote a letter of your views in reply to an assessment that had been carried out on your DC and you copied all in who got assessment reports, one being the GP and the GP wanted to do something, anything with your response as it was full of factual research and information, backed by supporting evidence. Yet the person who done the assessment, who is now on maternity leave, her boss does not want to acknowledge my letter and has told you this by mail but is happy once the social worker is in receipt of the ENC report is happy to take that forward. What does that say and wwyd?

TIA x

Thanks Ineed, I think it's the way I explain things, not very clear, bear with me.

DS has had an assessment done by the ENC. The last assessment we got from the LA was full of conflict and contradiction as always and no support or reccomendations.

Anyway I wrote a letter with my views on this assessment and copied all those in who had the assessment report.

The GP after receiving my response wants to take it further as it's full of reasearch and information backed up with supporting evidence, he feels can not be ignored.

The person who done the assessment report is now on maternity leave but her boss has it and has wrote me a letter saying she doesn't want to discuss my views but is happy to share the social workers copy of the ENC report and take any views on board with her.

I just feel grrr, your not willing to acknowledge me but go behind my back and discuss something similar but by another prof iyswim. I just feel it's wrong.

Hope that makes more sense x

Yes it does make more sense, I just have a negative view of LA's in general atm. They work to their own agenda and dont seem to take the views of others into account.

Good on your GP for wanting to take it further, what is he suggesting?

Are the LA suggesting that their report is more accurate than the ENC one??

I have told the GP that I was just copying them in as they had their assessment, heres my views. However he is now waiting for the ENC report as it was in internal post. My original GP has left so the practice are now rethinking us as a family anyway. He said my views also highlighted to them how much the other GP done for us and how well she knew us all to now have nothing. He is going to have a meeting with the GP's in the practice, discuss us, then the assessment, my response then ENC report and get back to me.

The LA haven't seen ENC report.

Is this person who assessed your DS, but is now on maternity leave, from the LA or the ENC? Have you had 2 assessments recently, a useful one by the ENC (what does that stand for?) and a poor one from the LA? Sorry, just trying to get it clear in my head. Smile

Well if nothing else comes out of it at least the GP's are going to be more aware of your family.

Dd3 has been seen by the same GP all her life and he has referred her many times at my request, he never remembers that she has Asd, he has a crap bedside manner and I actually dont think he believes that she has Asd even when I remind him.

I want to move but dont know if I will be jumping out of the frying pan into the fire. Last time Dd3 was ill I took her to the OOH, they were brilliant with her. Shame we cant use them all the time.

Anyway enough of my woes. I hope you can get past the bull.... that the LA are giving you. Fingers crossed for the ENC report.

Well, the LA bod is just being bloody rude, then. Have you given the LA permission to see the ENC report?

I know exactly what you mean Ineed, it's a hard decision to make, good luck with whatever you decide.

I have the ENC report, all 27 pages of it lol

They have sent it out to education, obviously higher than the ones we are dealing with which is next ones down. He has also sent it out to health as they commissioned it but the LA clinical psyc who done the last assessment isn't copied in. I have told the SW not to share the report with them but I am happy to discuss the report alongside them.

I just feel they need to know that from my perspective, rather than the SW acting as go between iyswim

Yes, it seems rather worrying that they are refusing to deal with you directly.

Absolutely, I would definitely not allow someone to pass on their interpretation of a report to someone I already didnt trust.

worrying in what way? Ellen. I'm sorry but I don't read situations very well or people and I got the feeling I was being excluded and it wasn't right, do you think I'm right?

Sorry, Dev, didn't see this. Yes, I'd be a bit insulted that they don't seem to want to deal with you directly, and that they are perhaps not taking you seriously, but I may be seeing more in it than there really is. I might just be picking up on your frustration with them.
