2012 has been a terrible year for my family with a number of horrible things happening. Earlier in the year, DS went for a job interview, quite a few of you posted in support, but he didn't get it.

Today he did!

We are totally thrilled and so is he. DS is in his early twenties and has learning difficulties and ASD. Apparently, some of the staff at his new place of work also have relatives with ASD and they have decided to take him and and help him to ease into the job. So he will start with shorter hours and then build up as his skills and confidence grows. We are amazed that a workplace is prepared to do this in the current climate!

Thanks:) I hope it gives people with younger children some encouragement. When DS was little, we were told he might never learn how to walk, talk or read or write. He can do all of those things and more.

He has spent the evening ringing up everyone that he knows with the good news.

Mind you, he is now outside making sure that his Dad has locked the car by testing every door three times exactly! Grin

Thanks for the flowers. Yes, it has been a very hard road at times and I am sure will continue to be. I expect we may have to support him a lot in this job as he finds new situations so stressful and then makes sure that we do too!

Yes, we feel really good this evening, which is very nice because the last few months have been full of severe illness and bereavement.

And I bet he becomes a prize employee, it doesn't matter if you take a bit longer to learn the job when you can display other strengths. Which he'll do by showing that he works hard, performs reliably and never takes a dodgy sickie Grin
