Hi my DS has SN. I have started giving him Omega 3 oils to improve his concentration. I have heard however, that it contains a lot of Mercury which takes away the goodness of the oils. Can anyone tell me if they know anything about this. Also do you know of any brands which do not contain a lot of Mercury.

Yes tablet (hes 6) but I bought the haliborange ones and the level was so low for the EPA comparred to the eye q ones such a vast difference .The eye q ones were the ones that they did the trial with (I have been told ) I thought the haliborange ones would be good as they are geared up for kids .

We're using Efalex atm. Not sure about the mercury levels, but I suppose that may be to do with the fish origins ? You could use a veg alternative such as flax oil, I think.

Yes a lot of fish have very high levels of mercury in them which in itself is a cause for concern and the debate over mercury in the MMR vaccine.
I was hearing that Eye Q is a good supplement as it only uses fish oils from those fish caught in clear southern waters, thus being mercury free.
However this is the only supplement containing Omega 3 that I've managed to find so far that is mercury free.

We use Eskimo oil. I think that is pretty pure.

This has worried me. If I write to St Ivel will I be able to find out if advance milk contains mercury? I've just bought it for the first time and was delighted to find that ds will have it on his cereals because it was impossible to get him to have capsules. I tried all sorts of ways to hide efalex in his food without success and EyeQ just made him hyperactive. This milk seemed the ideal solution but it won't be if I'm giving him mercury!

We use Eskimo Kids - agree with Saker, think it's pretty pure.
