I cannot believe that SS have just phoned me asking which 2 days in the christmas hols I want dd to go to a playscheme. I was pretty stunned and said we haven't been offered this before.

Apparently as dd had it paid for in the summer they will pay for christmas as well. I just have to choose which playscheme I want her to go to!

Had to post this as usually you have to chase and chase for everything and to be offered it like that is most unusual.

My Dp's request is going to panel after dd is observed at school this week so will let you know how it goes!!!!

doormat - yes they are Although I often feel guilty for sending dd but tbh need it for my sanity and ds usually goes (funded) as well!!!!!

moondong - yeah I guess they do. Although I have only been asking for over 3 years for dd to be assessed so not bad

doormat - I know exactly what you mean. If I had to cope all summer without that break I don't know what I would do! Also if I get dp's for the holidays it will be nice to have an extra pair of hands when we go out.

blossom I cant lift my ds at all no more as he is too heavy so when he is home I am virtually houseblound unless I have dh or one of the dd's to help me.
also the women that run these playschemes are just so lovely

doormat - does ds go to a sn playscheme? As my dd goes to a ms one with support. Although they do have a lot of sn children that go.

Well SS pay for the extra support. So like my dd has 4 to 1 support, which she really needs.
I think it works really well for dd as most of her issues are social/communication and she gets to practise.

Wow! Congraulations, BH!

Ds1 and ds2 went to a m/s playscheme in the summer and they loved every minute of it.

Ds2's portage worker arranged his funding for extra support so I'm not sure where to apply to tbh, macwoozy. Hopefully someone else will know.

You must be really chuffed BH, must be nice to have something offered for a change

Thanks. It is nice not to have to beg

Infact just been speaking to the play services as dd also goes to 1 Saturday session per month which is for children with social/communication difficulties. they really help encourage good play/social skills.

Oh that's great Blossom. I'm dreading the Chirstmas holiday as half term was bad enough.

What a nice surprise?

Once you're in the system with these things it just seems to keep going. We got onto a SN playscheme last year and it just keeps coming up. I couldn't have managed last week without the 2 days at the scheme as they were the 2 days I had DD all day. It took a while before I was confident that DS was happy there, but now he knows it and they know him, I don't worry. I even used the bus service once this time as my car was in the garage. Yours are very efficient though BH, already asking about Xmas!
