Possible Aspergers

Very new to all this, my best friends child is being seen by CAHMs who have said her child possibly has Aspergers.

What should she be expecting them to do? It seems a very long process, is there anything she can do to hurry things along? She will soon have to choose a secondary school - will she receive any help on choosing what will be best for her child?

Any advice would be welcome, she just doesn't know where to start or if she is doing enough chasing etc (I'm posting this as she doesn't have internet access).

It can be a very long process - she can ring up Camhs and ask where she is on the waiting list.
If she gets a diagnosis, it may be worth asking her current school to support the statementing process; but that is a battle in itself!
Ask everybody - GP, Camhs, school, ed psych - for their advice on choosing a school. From my own experience, you get nowt unless you shout!
Come and chat on special needs forum - many mums there who know more than me!
