Confused about EP,s ability to dx

DS was dx,d by an independent psych specialising in ASD, he,s also an Ed Psych part time and works for an LEA.

our lea said they couldnt accept his dx cos he was only an ed psych and they cannot dx conditions.

we refuted this and his dx went on the statement BUT, ive seen threads where it says the EP says ASD etc, now the Ed Psych for dd has totally gone against the CDC,s report and our independent psychs dx of dd as having PDD-NOS, not only this but she has just done a report of dd for the tribunal hearing on tues, sent it straight to the LEa where she says dd has no interaction and socialising difficulties (HA!) and hasnt spoken to us about it.

we are asking for her to be removed from dd,s case BUT how can she go against what all other professionals have said when she hasnt carried out any proper asessments on dd?

also was just reading on the ipsea site that parents have sucessfully sued an ed psych for failing to dx a condition which meant their child lost out in provision, i never knew you could do this!

I would be interested to know what happens at you tribunal Jenk. The EP has also denied that my ds has autism, even though we have private diagnosis backed up by NHS. She has said my ds has social communication difficulties, problems with change, no interaction, delalyed expressive language and receptive language, gross motor and fine motor delays, sensory issues, etc.
I have looked up my LEA sen policy related to ASD. You have probably done this.
The tribunal will be looking at all reports not just hers. You will win for your dd, I am sure of it!

the ed psych service might also have an asd protocol which gives dx guidance. It will vary from authority to authority as to how they work. Often the dx side of things is done by the medical side.

thing is with the ed psych is that she denies dd has ANY problems with social and interacting, she completely goes against what the CDC have found our our private psych, we have a sneaky suspicion she stopped the nhs from dx,ing dd as they were set to last dec then following a phonecall from her they told me that because she disagrees so much with what they have found they were unable to dx.
