ds1 has AS and ADHD..... and a broken wrist!!!
A he is taking all his SATS in the 'Individual learning unit' with a scribe...all his SATS but one.
yesterday he had MENTAL MATHS and was instructed to sit in main hall with all the other yr 9's... and no scribe.
as a result he was physically at a loss cos of his plaster cast making writing practically zero... and being in the main hall- not where he practiced SATS was both a challenge due to his AS and terrible as he was distracted.
the scribe in all other SATS is provided for 2 reasons- handwriting problems (not related to broken wrist- but hand eye co-ord)and keeping him focussed.
so my point is he came home fed up and feeling dissaponted as he couldn't keep up with the questions as they are fired at them 'every 10 seconds' (which may be his perception- i have no idea...maybe they get longer??)
i thought he'd get longer to do his SAT...and especially the MENTAL MATHS.
anyway...tis done now... anyone know how much of the final marks are from the MENTAL maths paper? as this may not be a battle worth fighting with the scool...however if it is a third odf the marks and because of what i mentioned above he scores hardly anything- then i don't think it was fair?
