transitional objects + keyring message recorders

hi

my dd has huge separation anxieties at school. we do stuff like notes in her packed lunch box, a photo keyring on her book bag, and she has a message recorder keyring where i can record a 10 second message each day. just wondering what other things people do to help their children get through the school day, and also does anyone know of a recorder where you can't easily erase the message? ours has two buttons - play and record, right next to each other, and despite putting a sticker on the 'play' button so she doesn't confuse them, the message always gets erased almost straight away (sometimes maybe because she's angry with me for leaving her at school). if this wasn't an option, maybe she'd get more use from it?
