extra support for dyslexia promised by government

I've seen on the news today that the government are going to invest in supporting dyslexia by piloting a scheme in some areas so that children with dyslexia will get specialist support. So does anyone know when this is likely to take effect from and where these areas might be?

Why dont you contact your local MP and ask them to find out for you?

ooh, now that sounds interesting. my DD2 is dyslexic and I am sure DS1 is too, so any extra help would be a huge boost.

prob not anywhere near me tho, they never seem to pilot schemes around our area or so it seems!!

""The government says half of pupils in 10 areas will be given catch-up reading lessons or one-to-one help from dyslexia specialists.""

10 areas.....just 10. and then only half the kiddies.

this is all gonna be a big bout of hot air again trying to make themselves sound good when in all reality it is gonna do pretty much F.A to help in real terms.

""The government has also announced it is giving £250,000 to Dyslexia Action over three years so it can expand pilots it already runs under the Partnership for Literacy scheme to another 10 schools""

and again.....hot air......how far is £250,000 really going to go in 10 schools???

And just how many schools are there anyway in the country?? there are ten alone within 5 miles of my house (counting infant thro to secondary), so 10 schools is utter crap!

or am I just sounding cynical cos of the lack of support i have so far had?
