I visited DD3 7yo classroom during the schools open afternoon yesterday. I noticed while looking through her work that she puts letters in the wrong order or misses them out altogether. Also (and it was mentioned in her report) she gets b's and d's, p's and q's and 9's the wrong way around. She reads d's and b's the wrong way too. She hardly ever finishes a piece of work. She doesn't say words the wrong way and doesn't have trouble putting days of the week for example in the wrong order and she knows left from right. She is also good at telling time. She got 2's, 2C's and a 2B in her KS1 SATs.

I'm put off asking her teacher, because I suspected DD2 11yo with having it and they say she doesn't. I don't want to look like I'm just trying to label my kids.

My DH and my mum are both dyslexic.

I think the d and b thing can still happen sometimes still at that age Dragon.Saying that though my son was the same and I was told he wasn't dyslexic, they screened him too. I took him to be tested private and he turn out to have severe dyslexia. They then sat up and done something about it. He couldn't tell the time , sequence anything,or ride a bike at 7 either.

She could be borderline so worth looking into

Speak to the teacher and act now . Didn't discover I had it till I was 31 . Wish it had been spotted sooner.

be persistent - most teachers have no idea of how to spot dyslexia.
