Asperger friendly secondary schools in East Sussex

Are there any SECONDARY SCHOOLS which parents can recommend in East Sussex for ASPERGERS?

We need to choose a secondary school this autumn for our son to start in Sept 2014. We are not sure whether to go for one which is smaller in size, or one which has a special ASD unit.

We would love to hear from other parents of Aspergers children who have experience of secondary schools in this area.

We are prepared to move house to be near one which is highly recommended.

Our son was only diagnosed at the end of last year and does not have a statement - should we try and get one?

If there is anyone reading this that lives around the Uckfield/Lewes area and the surrounding areas who can share their experiences of local secondary schools, we'd be most grateful to hear from you.

Thanks so much for reading this

the beacon school in crowborough shares a campus with grove park, a special school for ASD. GP moved there a few years back and had a brand new school built designed specifically with asd kids in mind. The idea being that both schools can share resources and the GP kids get to include within a mainstream environment when able - so effectively like a unit.

Thanks, Eatyourveg!

I am aware of Grove Park as my son's best friend goes there.
However, for him , it would not be suitable as he is not "severe" enough to go there

Many thanks for taking the time and trouble to reply

I didn't realise that I was not alerted by email when a message was added so sorry for the delay!
