My son has a statement 17.5 hours support, have just found out from my son and an adult that the lady isn't even working in his class because the school is short staffed and my son can cope without her, this isnt just a one off time, spoke to his teacher this morning, she assures me she won't let him fall behind and he does still get some support but the point is he's entitled to 17.5 hours. Then spoke to the head he said he wasn't aware his one 2 one was working in another class, but was more concerned as to what adult told me and was it a member of staff, I told him that didn't matter. Funny thing is there's a meeting coming up to renew the statement if I'm honest it's unlikely it will be renewed which I accept but school are pushing to try and are hoping to get reduced hours bit of a cheek really.

No, don't accept that scenario whatever you do!. If the statement gives 17.5 hours of support then that is what he should receive.

What exactly do parts 2 and 3 of this document state; was DS's provision both specified and quantified?. They and the LEA cannot dodge their statutory responsibilities here.

Would also suggest you repost this on Special Needs;Children forum of this website as that particular forum receives far more daily traffic that this one does.

In my daughter's school they used the autistic child's LSA as an extra TA (and they are not under staffed)...
