Slimming World

Could Slimming world work for me?

Hello - wondered if someone could give some advice as I don't really know much about Slimming world but have been reading some great success stories and wondered if I should give it a go. My worries are:

  • I love cooking, and don't really like using low fat 'fake' stuff

  • I have an 8mth old and a 4yr old and try to cook stuff for them as well as dh and me

  • I don't know if I could make group meetings because of work / children. Are these vital for success?

I have 3st to lose and make promises every bloody day, week, month, but fall off the wagon all the time!

I looked at my wedding pics (got married 6yrs ago) today and thought how lovely I looked, but I still pigged out on cake at my parents' house this afternoon, and had ice cream after dinner tonight!

Aargh - could Slimming world fix me?

Hi. Slimming World sounds ideal for you - there's no ready meals or fake 'low fat' stuff involved - except using Fry Light or other low fat frying spray. If you cook - and enjoy cooking - even better.

No need to 'adapt' meals really. Lean meat, potatoes, pasta, rice, vegetables, fruit etc.

You can use the online site instead of a group. They're helpful, especially if you're struggling to get to grips early on or having a bad time, but they're not vital.

I lost 5.5 stone in 14 months - been at target for 4. DH has lost 6 stone with a little bit to go.

my partner has lost 2.5 stone so far on slimming world. And as has been said you don't need to use fake foods.
I do the cooking and I am not a keen cook but find it pretty easy to give meals for all of us in the family incorporating his diet.
use alot of chicken, lean meats, marinades, rice, and the slimming world chips recipe is delicious, we all have them when its chippy night Grin

The only low fat things I use are FryLight and fat free natural yoghurt and fromage frais. Stirred into sauces you don't even notice! Whole family eats the food. If you like cooking with oil, butter and other full fat stuff you can use syns for it. I hate sweeteners so I use sugar in puddings and tomato sauces and just syn it. SW is the PERFECT diet for people who love to cook and their recipe books are great.

Brilliant - thanks! I feel really encouraged now so will properly check it out tomorrow!

I would love to shift some of these pounds before maternity leave finishes!

I don't use any fake foods, and I take my six month baby to group! It's working really well for me :)
