Hi, started Slimming world on Monday evening, excited to get going, on day 2 and all seems to easy, am I missing something? Think the hardest point will be Friday evening when the wine comes knocking!!! Any survival tips, I am so determined as so fed up of my current weight. I love fresh fruit and vegetables to kind of on the right track with that but am struggling with looking up every single thing I eat, does anyone have any advice to speed it up? I'm guessing over time you get to learn what category each thing falls into? I'm on EE.

I stuck post it notes inside my cupboards with the syns for most used bits wrote on them.
Try lots of different recipes it's easy to get stuck in a rut off eating the same things which gets boring and leads to falling off plan
Can't help with the wine as I don't drink but friends switched to either vodka and sf mixer or spritzer with sf lemonade
Good luck

I've been drinking 25ml shots of gin with skinny tonic instead of wine. I can have six if I really want to as they are only 2.5 syns each.

I do miss my wine and did have a bottle over three nights the other weekend, but just one large glass rather than my usual shameful amount.

It's hard but got to be done, that's what I tell myself. And I am now 9lb down in five weeks without too much deprivation so I must be doing something right.

Best of luck - keep us posted on your progress.

i drink wine and soda now instead of wine, that way it goes twice as far. If we go to pub i have a 250ml little bottle, half of it in a j2o glass topped up with soda, then the other half next drink.

How's it going ? I've found its a great way to lose weight and I always feel full on it...must be a good thing. Hoping to lose again on fourth week after eight lost in first three but may have a slow week this week. Try frozen yogurt from tesco which is a good substitute for ice cream.

Well done, that's great!

I'm looking at my first gain tomorrow I think after an overindulgent weekend. I did enjoy it though and was back on SW yesterday so hoping I can shake it off and more by next week.

Well somehow I managed a STS - back on 100% for this week and hoping to break into the 10s for the first time in a long time next week.

That's brilliant Acer, well done! A stone since August, I'm really impressed. If you have any tips, please share.
I joined online last night and I've set Wednesday as my weigh in day.
Very early days, but it's been a good day.

Welcome Mabs :-) 2lbs is great. My mantra and I am defo still a newbie is as long as I am loosing I am happy. Defo know what you mean about feeling bloated and fat, I always feel like this around "that time". Drives me mad, feel like I have gained a stone in water alone, but the weigh in after "that time" made a me very happy! But keep on, it will be be fab, you will be fab! I'm in no position to give any advice, but i have my own way of saving my syns for the little weekend mishaps as I do like a drink with the girls on a Friday ;-)

Aw we'll keep on it, it will happen. Are you sticking to plan strictly? Lost 5lbs this week but had not weighed in a fortnight so was pleased at 2.5lbs a week. Dreading next week already though as have a naughty weekend ahead by the looks of it. My OH has booked a surprise weekend!

I've just returned to SW too. Just worried I will fall into the rut of eating the same things over and over. The only thing I find difficult is all of the prep for tea when I get in from work. Also I enjoy Granola for breakfast which is approx 5 syns but keeps me full to Lunch time. Anyone know of a lower syn variety ?

annielostit · 06/11/2014 11:08

Kazzer- I would eat the granola, weigh it the same way as muesli is in the cereal b choice. I would expect it not to be much different calorie wise than that. Just keep an eye on weight.

My 2nd week now, lost 3 lbs the first week, isn't much compared to others, but its still a small achievement for me personally!
How are others getting on? Anyone doing SW online? Would love to hear from you.

Well done on the 3lb. Don't compare yourself to others. They may have more to drop than you. There was a lady in one group who used to get 4lb every week.it came to light she was only eating stir fry veg, no carbs meat dairy.she would moan about being starving. sw isn't about this. I'd rather get 2lb a month and be happy and not deprived.
I'm pretty good at the min, I play with a 7lb down then up when I have a holiday. Im not getting one till next summer so I might get back to 11st10.
There's a nice thread in chat called sw friends that's quite active.

It's been a while since I last updated. After a really fab Christmas and new year holiday I am back on plan, and lost all the weight I had put on over the Christmas period. Feeling good am back on track. How are you getting on? Been using lots of food optimising recipes from the sw website and also from Pinterest which is inspiring. :-)

Today am feeling thoroughly pissed off! Had my weigh in this evening after being on plan all week and averaging at 5-10 syns per day, I put on 3 & half pounds! Not impressed with myself. We joined the local gym this week & I have swam every other day for 45 mins & achieved week 2 on the couch to 5k challenge. Just don't know where I have gone wrong. Looked over my food diary & body magic & just know it's all been on plan. Humph! But as they say brush your self off & start a new week. ??
