I am hoping someone can help me with a quick question.

I am starting SW tomorrow. My youngest baby is now 6 weeks and I want to shift some of the 15kgs and get back in my clothes! I can't join at meetings until September as I don't fancy trying to keep DD2 occupied during the meeting (she starts more pre-school after the summer) but a friend has offered to lend me her books so I can try it out in the meantime. If it goes well, I might think about joining online, but I really want to give it a go and see how compatible it is with the chaos of three small kids before I shell out such a lot upfront.

Only thing is she doesn't know what I need to add for breastfeeding, and whether it is the same right up to 6 months and adding solids. Does anyone know?

I have advanced searched myself as I posted the chart aaaaaaaaages ago.
Here it is.

Scroll down and you will see it.

Basically you are allowed way more healthy extras than non breastfeeding slimmers but however many you are allowed (depending on baby's age) you must have the majority (3 or 4) as A choices.

Good luck!

Just been looking. Wow, that's a lot of cheese and milk. Not sure I'd manage that normally, so I guess it will be my 'go to' for snacks.

Not sure why I'm allowed milk and cheese and not normal yoghurt as a healthy extra Confused

I found I used the milk up by having semi skimmed (so less than skimmed) and having cereal for breakfast. I also used to snack on Babybel cheeses.

I could put semi in stuff I guess. Seems odd to be forcing myself though. I can't stand drinking semi or putting it on cereal unfortunately (legacy of growing up in a family who only had skimmed past early childhood).

I like full fat natural yoghurt though and could do it easily with that. Seems odd when yoghurt, milk and cheese are essentially the same thing!

Think I will have to follow your example and start on the babybel!

I started at SW last October when dc3 was 10mo. I'm still breastfeeding him 3 times a day so have 3 healthy extras a day and 15 syns. I too prefer skimmed milk and eat it in porridge for breakfast - the oats count as a HE too, then have some cheese during the day. The reason not all dairy counts as HE is to do with the food optimising science bit - not entirely sure how it works mind! I've lost 3 stone so far and find the meals are great, really tasty and very easy. Our favourite books are the Fakeaways and Family feasts on a budget. We all eat the same food so no extra faffing about with separate meals. It really fits in with busy families, you just need to do a bit of planning with menus and shopping. Good luck!

Wow Tidypidy - 3 stone since October? That's amazing!

It's just so straightforward and food is lovely. I started walking to school everyday just before Christmas so about 2 miles twice a day and I think that's made a big difference. Need to save up now for new clothes.

I started SW in November when DS was 5 weeks. I've lost 2 1/2 stone. I never ate all my healthy extras. It's fine. You don't eat a 'prescribed' making of milk or cheese if you're not doing SW but are breastfeeding. I did eat lots of yoghurt though, so knew I was getting plenty of calcium from that.

Hello - do any of you (penguin?) fancy starting a postnatal weight loss support thread? I had my DC3 4 weeks ago and am breastfeeding her. None of my clothes fit Sad and I feel like a bit fat frump in horrible breastfeeding bras! I did SW to lose baby weight after DS2 and am going to give it another go. I contacted the local consultant and I can't go to meetings until I have had my postnatal check which is not until 8 weeks, but I think I'll make a start before then - I need to stop eating chocolate! I've ordered some weighing scales from Argos so I can see just how bad things are - the new regime starts on Monday...

With the A choice, the amount of cheese you are allowed really isn't very much, so I found doubling up was handy there. I also opted for nuts for a B choice instead of always going for bread. It seems like you could be drinking milk all day, but you really don't have to.
