Slimming World

Beware of joining SW online if you're not sure it's right for you. You won't get your money back!

I joined last week having chatted to colleagues about it, and thinking it sounded like a relatively simple way to lose wait. I paid for the three month bronze package.

I have used WW in the past and in comparison I found SW a faff. I realised straight away that it wasn't going to suit me (I like to be able to join in with eating socially without having to consider combinations / 'syns' and whatever). You do need to weigh and measure syns so that's out for me. I tried it for a day, didn't get on with it and requested my money back under the distance selling cooling-off period. Then I checked the Ts&Cs and realised I couldn't. Stupid not to have looked into this properly in the first place, but I thought I knew what it entailed.

Basically if you've built your profile - which happens before you pay, at the registration stage, you're deemed to have started using the service, and so you're not entitled to a refund Shock.

Pretty pissed off to have wasted so much money. All I can get back is meeting vouchers which are no good to me because there is only one a week locally that I can't do as I have a prior commitment, and anyway I don't want to follow the plan.

Just be aware of what you're signing up to, as far as possible with the life's information available until you've actually paid!

In fairness why didn't you try it? It's an amazing plan.

You looked at it for a day, dissed it and wanted your money back?

Yep. I'm not happy with the faffiness of the plan. Permission to make my own mind up Hmm

Faffiness? Really?

It's not faffy - it's really easy to follow, easy to eat out & join in with.

You tried it for one day - maybe give it another chance? It's a lot of money to just throw away, I mean what have you got to lose? (Apart from excess lbs) :)?

Fair enough if you don't think it's for you. I don't find it faffy, but I know of a few people that struggled to understand the plan at first. You do get used to it though.

I'm not sure what you mean about eating out and having to consider food combinations though? Possibly true on the old 'original and green day' plan, but certainly not the case on the new one. As for counting syns, surely that's no different to counting WW points? Plus, SW gives the option of 'flexible syns' so you can have more than your allowance if you want to eat out and not have to think about which free (unlimited) food you can have. You also don't have to weigh or measure anything if you don't want to, but you certainly don't weigh the free foods, which should make up the majority of what you eat.

I love it. I can eat foods I love, never be hungry and have lost lots of weight on it.

did you ask for your money back yet? ask cab for advice. maybe you can still get a refund

The reason you can't get a refund is because once you have paid you have access to the resources- the lists of free foods, healthy extras etc. if they allowed refunds, we'd all sign up, print off the stuff and then ask for our money back. It's a business after all.

i just tried to register
it is not the initial profile it is entering the members area that voids your cooling off period

You could easily have researched the whole plan online before you decided to commit.
I remember when I first started the plan the were no classes in Ireland yet I managed to discover the whole plan online.

Buyer beware!!

Give it a chance,it's really brilliant .

It does warn you a few times when you are setting up that once you enter you will not be entitled to a refund. I only set up online 3 weeks ago and remember these warnings well. I have lost 1/2 a stone in this time. I have weighed nothing, eaten out and have eaten a lot of new food in this time. Each to their own but I certainly haven't found it a faff, I love it, so does my husband and my daughter, we all eat together and eat the same. I had a full English breakfast this morning, I am having burgers and chips for tea. Its amazing

makingchanges is right, it warns you several times that you can't get a refund.

Its worth a try, all "diets" have some kind of effort involved, if you calorie count you need to weigh and keep track of calories, weight watchers has points, 5:2 you have to count calories. If you don't like SW, fair enough, but its no more faff than any other diet. You have nothing to lose by trying it now!

I know people before to say that if they were Weight Watchers then SW is quite difficult for them.
