Thinking of joining Slimming World

I am thinking of joining Slimming World as have gained so much weight over the past few years (probably due to the stress of having a very sick prem baby).

I am not sure if to join a group or online. If I go to group I would need to go to an evening group (6.30pm) and take my 5 year old daughter with me as husband at work. Not sure if this is acceptable though, have emailed the consultant to see what she thinks.

I am not sure how motivating the online SW will be.

I understand if I go to group I will get access to some online system - is this the same or different to the online sw?

Cam anyone tell me what it is like at group? Not sure how I feel about going to group so more info on what it is like would be great.

Michelle

Hi. I think group can be really good if you have a good consultant! If your consultant isn't up to scratch prob best to move group. The fear of the weekly weigh in can be enough to keep you on track sometimes. Grin

I go to a group and find it much more inclusive than doing it online. I previously did WW online & though I lost weight I much prefer the group meetings.

I'm sure a child wouldn't be a problem as long as they sat quietly during the talk.

I've done diets online before and found that I don't have anywhere near enough motivation to keep it up. Plus lots of ideas in group. Our group often has lots of children running round - I suppose mums looking to lose baby weight are a big portion of their target audience.

I take my kids to group, my 2.5 year old does not understand ssssshhhh (just found his voice lol) so I take the iPad for him to play on through the talk.

I would say definitely go to groups! I had tried losing weight on my own and had got nowhere with it, the shame of putting on at the weigh-in was what I needed to motivate me and I dropped 2 dress sizes in the end!

Leaving was a mistake because I've actually started putting weight back on without that fear.

I definitely need the fear of a weigh in at group to keep me on the straight and narrow ;-)

My 3 DC come with me to an early evening group, if can't get a babysitter. I take colouring, puzzles, books etc and as long as they're quiet it's fine.
