I was planning to go back to Slimming World today but I've double booked myself and I don't think I'll make it to group. I'd like to get started as soon as possible as I've already had one of those weeks where I've thought "I'll have this now because I'm going to start being good next week..." Confused

I'm exclusively BF and I understand you get extra Healthy Extras. I've found something online that says you get 7 Healthy Extras per day if your baby is 2-4 months old. Does anyone know if this is right as it seems a lot!

Just re-read the info and as I'd be doing Extra Easy I can see it says a total of 6 Healthy Extras.

If anyone has any advice on approaching this while taking care of an 8 week old I'd appreciate it. I seem to live on toast and sandwiches for breakfast and lunch at the moment so definitely need to re-jig.

I was wanting to do slimming world again too, I'm am bf my 5 month old.

I started it on wednesday, without going to classes and have cut out bread, and I feel less bloated already. Just been having bp & beans for lunch or plain pasta with tomatoes, ham, sweet corn, etc mixed thru. Porridge with banana for breakfast. And fruit in between.

Need to find other lunch options too. How does the extra 'healthly extras work'?

I think you can have extra A choices to make sure you're getting enough calcium. I have to go to meetings, if I try and do it alone I'll never get anywhere. Need to be accountable! Smile

I know, the weigh in does help keep you on the straight and narrow lol, I just dont have a class with a time that's suitable for me just now.

It's kinda went to pot slightly this weekend, but back on it tomorrow. I dont even own scales, so just going to judge it with how my clothes fit, not ideal, but not looking to lose that much, about 1 stone or so.

Me too! Tub of pralines and cream shared with the hubby yesterday.Sad Was bloody delicious though Grin

This morning I've already had two breakfasts (couldn't decide between cereal or toast) and a sarnie and pack of crisps for lunch. No bread is going to be a killer! Need to get to that meeting!

I've been quite good with the bread most of the week, but did have a delicious ciabatta sandwich yest, yum!

Have been good today, porridge with banana for breakie and those supernoodles for lunch with a fruit salad, although had a sneaky cornetto this afternoon as its roasting today!
Grilled chicken with a cous cous salad for dinner tonight.

Baby is having a bit of a growth spurt just now, so I'm hungry all the time. I just need to get into the habit of snacking better rather than reach for the biscuits etc

You're doing well to plan what you're having. I find myself in the supermarket every day because I just can't be bothered to do a big shop. Will have to make myself plan more once I get started properly. At the moment I'm planning to have Weetabix (or Aldi's equivalent!) with fat free yogurt and a banana tomorrow morning but the thought missing out on hot buttered toast provided by DH before he goes work tomorrow is already making me feel a bit blue!

You should try an online shop. I love shopping that way. I spend less money than I would instore and I can plan what dinners we can have during the week. I also have a 5 yr old, so shopping instore with the 2 of them can be a nightmare!

Hot toast is delicious, hard to resist! Especially the smell

Ok, I am probably not best suited to give advice at the mo as have just posted a 'help, I've reached a plateau' thread! But, I began SW when my DD was 6 weeks old and yes, on the extra easy plan you get to have 6 healthy extras every day. You are supposed to have 3 or 4 as A choices though to help with calcium. This is great as it means you can have milk on your cereal, extra milk for hot drinks and lots of cheese. Plus with 2 B choices you can have a sandwich with 2 slices of proper bread! Also, tinned sardines in tomato sauce are a free choice that have lots of calcium
in them. I got a booklet for new mums when I joined and it also encouraged you to use up the whole 15 syns allowance a day too. The healthy extras decrease to 3 once your baby has begun weaning.
I was losing 2 lbs a week eating like this. It's slowed down recently though but I'm probably eating too late at night or having millions too many Mullerlight yogurts everyday!
You can have your buttered toast - 2 Bs for the bread and butter is 2 syns per level tsp Grin

I have a nice Aldi store close to where I live and I do all my shopping there. I think I would faint if I started shopping at one of the 'big' supermarkets now! If it wasn't for that I'd definitely give online shopping a go!

Thanks for the the Healthy Extras advice (really sorry but I'm writing this on my phone and I can't see name). Hope you manage kick start weight loss again soon.

I got it a tiny bit wrong with the healthy extras so here I've copied straight from my booklet:
Baby's age............... Healthy Extras (3 or 4 from milk and cheese)....
................................... Extra Easy.................. Green or Original....
Up to 2 months.......................5.......................................7..................
2 to 3 months.........................6.......................................8...............
4 to 6 months.....................................................................................
(if starting to wean).................5.......................................7............
4 to 6 months.....................................................................................
(exclusively BF).......................6.......................................8.................
Over 6 months........................3.......................................5.................

thanks jimmycorkhill! Seems like SW is the way to go.

I went to sign up today but I didn't plan it at all well with feeds and I didn't want to BF in image therapy! I got the folder but I didn't get weighed as I couldn't stay till the end of the session. DS was asleep but if I'd stayed till the end he would have been well overdue and I don't like to risk it in this hot weather

Best of luck for Monday. I felt awkward BF in image therapy too but now I've been lots of times it is okay, I'm part of the furniture! I noticed that the leader spoke to everyone in the order that they got weighed so now I turn up on time to be weighed right at the start. I get my 'talk' out of the way then I know I'm free to BF with no one looking right at me. Also getting there right at the start means I can grab a chair at the back.

Hi, I'm doing SW Extra easy & ebf my 3.5 month DD.

Have banana sandwich for breakie which uses 2 healthy extra B's - also easy to eat one handed!

Been relying on jacket pots for lunch or pasta salads. I always have huge pile of chilli (premade and frozen) or dump whole can tuna / tinned fish with it.

Savoury rice is a ok snack, I get so hungry some days it's ridiculous. Also have plenty of ham, babybel light (3 = 1 healthy extra a) and homemade hummus.

Think the trick is to plan. However, today I actually did plan to eat 2 burgers, Greggs sandwich, yum yum and I crunchy. I know EXACTLY how I got this fat!!

I joined last week and was told to just have two healthy extra a choices, 1 b choice and 10 suns? Seems different to what other people have been told?
