My dd is 10 months and still wakes at night, although milk doesnt seem to get her back to sleep which means that I have a 2 hrs battle to try and get her to sleep again. im hoping that she may grow out of it.

I know hardly any parents who have babies who sleep through at even a year.
Have you tried controlled crying? Worked for us in one night, at 6.5/7 months.

Don't worry there are loads of babies / children not sleeping through if this site is anything to go by!!!!

Ds is 12 months and does occasionally sleep through, til 6am, but mostly wakes at least once.

In RL I know of friends & relatives whose children didn;t sleep through until they went to school.

Not that it helps with the sleep deprivation but anyone who's child does sleep through is extemely lukcy imo.

I dropped the late night feed after a while cos ds still woke anyway.

Every baby is different, even siblings vary wildly in their sleeping habits. Suppose the only advice I could offer is that if you stick at a routine that suits you the baby eventually twigs on.

Admittedly I have been one of the lucky few as far as sleeping through the night goes. DD was textbook and slept thru at 6 weeks and never looked back. DS1 was about 10 weeks or so. DS2 was 9 months but the house we lived in got so cold at night it woke him up despite him wearing his outdoor coat. I then moved to a house which had central heating and he slept thru the first night we were there! DS3 slept thru at about 3/4 mths but woke occasionally in the night and still does. DS4 is 3mths and has slept thru for getting on for three wks now.

Have you tried giving him a bit extra at teatime?

DS was waking up at 4am until he was 12mths. Then something happened (jet lag from holiday to Florida) and he now sleeps 13 hours right through.

Believe me I never thought it would happen
