i wake at 2 - 3 every night to go to the loo (always have done)then can't get back to sleep unil gone 5. baby has been awake since 6 & I am on my own with a 3year old as well so no more sleep until tonight.

i don't drink caffeine, drink very little liquid in the evening, good bedtime routine, am not stressed but just seem to wake up too much & can't get back to sleep.

this is the 3rd night on the trot that I've been like this & am at my wits end. is there anything I can take that won't leave me too groggy to deal with the chlidren if they wake in the night?

I have Melatonin for my son who is autistic, he just doesnt need sleep like we do but it does the trick, I wonder whether that is worth a try. Let me know if you need a link.

If you would like to try sonmething herbal, bodenbetty, I'd suggest that you try Valerian. I was having problems sleeping once ds1 started sleeping through and used valerian drops with great success - not such a deep sleep that you end up groggy (or don't wake up if lo's do) but just seemed to help somehow. Not recommended during pg i think, but apart from that OK, as far as I know.

Try cutting our alcohol and al refined sugars - not easy but really helps me and works almost immediately
