My 9 month old ds used to sleep from about 7.30-6am without waking but now he's waking up about 4.30 every morning and i dont know how to get him back to his old routine.
Atm he has a bath about 6.30pm,has porridge and bottle about 7 then bed about 7.15 ish.
Dp gives him dream feed about 11pm,then he wakes at 4.30.
Some mornings after he's had a bottle he goes straight back off to sleep but most of the time he stays awake until about 7.30-8am.
I really need to get this sorted out asap as we are going away for a few days with mil in 2 weeks time and are sharing a room so i dont want him waking everyone up or i'll be walking the hotel corridors with him

I found that the early morning nap was the culprit. Try to keep him awake for longer in the morning - the ideal would be for him to be having a nap at 11ish for a good few hours.

I found the pattern of waking really early, then an early nap, then another nap later in the day meant he'd wake earlier. Not sure why.

thanks dejags,
I know he can sleep longer as some mornings a few weeks ago i had to wake him up at 7am to get him to the childminders.
He hardly sleeps during the day atm,he'll normally go back off about 7.30-8am for about a hour then he's normally awake until about 3 when he'll have about 30 mins and thats it. Do you think he's not getting enough naps through the day?

I think the problem is the early morning nap. His body clock is a bit upside down.

He should rather be having a sleep midday(ish) - at this age one or two naps is irrelevant (the problem is having a nap when he should be getting up). I'd bet (on the advice of more than one mum) that if you slowly push that early morning nap forward to somewhere between 11am/12pm, he'll have one proper sleep in the day (of a few hours) and then be ready for bed at 7ish.

FWIW even if our DS2 (28 months) has an early nap now he will revert to waking early. He goes to sleep around 12.15 after lunch and normally sleeps 2-3 hours.

Good luck
