dd is nearly 2.5yrs. She has'nt tried climbing out of her cotbed yeat and although she goes down fine at the mo she does wake in the middle of the night. Do you know what age cot beds go to also?

My DS is 2.6 -hes still in a cot too. He sleeps well in there and hasn't yet tried climbing out (but it does have fairly high sides) so I'm just going to leave him be for a while longer.

Do you think that your daughter waking in the night has something to do with being in the cot then?

no i dont think so i think its just her age and fear of separation. Which is why ive not rushed putting her in a bed but at the same time wondered if she should be in a bed by now. I guess im having enough troubles with her so she will only be in and out if i put her in a bed.

The in/out of bed thing is why I'm in no rush to put DS in a bed.

He loves his sleep (touching wood as I say that ). He does sometimes wake quite early but if you're lucky he'll go back to sleep if you tuck him in quietly and tell him to close his eyes etc. If he was in a bed I think he'd be out of it like a shot no matter what time!

If your DD is happy in the cot I would leave her unless you have a specific reason to move her.

Dear Plusone
Our DS only moved into a bed shortly before his 4th birthday!!!!
It was a biggish cot (fortunately since ds is quite tall), and although he could climb out he never did, so since he was sleeping in it quite happily we waited until, after visiting an older friend's bedroom one day he asked if he could have a bed!
