Dear All you will remember i have been having some problems with my son William who is 6.5 monthd old. He had taken to climbing out his cot and i was growing increasingly concerned about the oppourtunity for him to hurt himself.

He had got slighlty better until recently when my partner had taken to letting him sleep with us, this led to him not being able to get to sleep this past week unless he was in bed with us to start with. Anyhow come tonight I was hoping to get him out of this new found bad habit and decided to rock him to sleep in my arms and then try and put him down in his cot. Obviously due to his walking antics I had him in a pod to start with.

Anyway after 3/4 of an hour he was finally asleep, so i put him down in his cot. Within 5 minutes he had awoken and started screaming the house down. Now Sunday nights i am on my own as my wife works and so tried rocking him again back to sleep but he contined screaming. I placed him back in the cot crying in the vain hope he would cry himself out but alas after attempts of warm milk and water he has near on screamed for and hour flat. I have had to take the cot curtains down as he keeps trying to climb up them. He looks completly knackered and is bright red due to all of the screaming and its obviously upsetting as i dont know whether to stick to my guns or not.

Please some advise before my neighbours call the noise police. A dad very much in need of encouragement- Matt

Hi Ellie

Eventually he got to bed at 12:10am so he cried for around 4 hours. I was there the whole time and kept getting him out to check he was ok. I think he must be teething, as when my wife returned we both commented on how his top gum line had softened and that he was obessesed with having something in his mouth.
