why the sudden change?

dd2(12months,monday) has never been a 'perfect'sleeper as such but used to go to sleep quite easily and wake up occasionally during the night but would settle back no probs, the last month or so has been a nightmare. She has had on/off for the last 6 weeks one illness on top of another. Now she either wont go down of an evening at all or she will go down and then wake up and not settle back. She has on a couple of occasions screamed and screamed for no aparent reason, even when in bed with me,which is always what happens in the end.
Does anyone have any ideas as to why the sudden change?
Could she be getting growing pains or something?
I did think that it was for attention but even when she has it she will just sometimes scream anyway. It is almost as though she has some sort of insomnia! She has been so tired due to the lack of sleep that she is rubbing her eyes and they are all puffy.
Help!

I bet she is still poorly . Maybe earache, headache, teething pains. Could be anything. Just for now I would comfort her as best you can. Highly unlikely that she would scream for no reason. She could be feeling chronically overtired too. The exhaustion must be frustrating to hte point of painful for her. Does she get good daytime sleep?

Sometimes she will sleep for 2 hours during the day and will nod off whilst in the car but then other days there is just too much going on for her.
She seems to be better in herself though today.

glad to hear it. . It is hard for them when they are ill. They don't understand - they just know they feel yuck.
Could you concentrate on getting her to nap in the day? It would probably really benefit her all round - esp with nighttime sleep. hth

Thanks cruisemum1
yes will try that.
She is awake as im typing this now.I have come to the conclusion that her being ill and me having to take her into our bed has upset her routine somehow but she is in general a lot lot clingier to me so im hoping that it is just a phase!

Thankfully last night she fell asleep downstairs and we managed to get her into her cotbed without disturbing her too much, she cried for a minute but then slept the whole night.
Fingers crossed for us both then ey cruisemum1
