Sleep

2 year old waking up

OK - our 2 year old went into his big boy bed about a month ago. To start with he loved it - goes to sleep easily and slept through a few times.

Now - goes to bed OK (cup of milk, little cuddle, lies down and goes to sleep), but 2-3 times a night wakes up, wanders through to our room. We pick him up, put him back to bed. To start with he would just go straight back to sleep. Now he needs a cuddle to go back to sleep (specifically from Mummy) - although to be fair to him he has got a nasty cough and cold so that could be related to that.

I just don't know what to do - when he comes into our room he is barely awake. If we shut his door completely he can't find the handle in the dark so starts crying and then is completely awake (and harder to settle).

At the moment we are taking the route of least resistance (esp as I am 24 weeks pg so tired anyway) and cuddling him back to sleep. But appreciate that this is probably prolonging the situation!

Help gratefully received!!

Is he warm enough ? DD (2.5) was waking a few times a night, looking for hand-holding or a cuddle, threw a nice fleecy blanket over her duvet and we haven't heard from her in a few weeks.

No experience myself but have you thought of a star chart?

Hiya,

It doesn't seem too cold but may well be - he only has his PJs and then a thin quilt on. Might be worth bunging an extra blanket on.

And he responded really well to stickers for potty training - but I just don't think it will work so well with this as he is barely awake when he walks through to our room - I'm not even sure he knows he is doing it.

My dd is just 2 and has been waking up during the night for about 3 weeks.... i know how you feel love you must be exhausted. After trying everything from controlled crying to no naps in the day i took her to docs as i was close to going crazy. Oh she is just teething the doc said!!! She is cutting her molars! So hopefully it will pass (the sooner the better)
Not sure if this helps at all but i really feel for you especially being pregnant aswell..
Whoever said parenting was the hardest job in the world was ssoooooooo right.. good luck
