Prince Lionheart Slumber bear - any use?

My dd is 16 weeks old and I (like many others I'm reading about here!) have been lulled into the rock-to-sleep club by her.... I don't really mind it as not sure I could do the whole CC thing but as I'm due back to work in the New Year I guess it would be good to try and reach the "settle herself to sleep" stage - for us and nursery!! I've seen this slumber bear advertised and wonder if anyone has had any success with it? Is she too old now for it to work? She loves the sound of my hairdryer so if she's going mad and I can't calm her it goes on for a few mins so.... Or does anyone have any magical tips for how to put an awake baby to bed without too much screaming thereafter??!!

Is that the one that has sound recordings from inside the womb etc or am i thinking of something else? If it is we have one for ds but tbh it didnt really work for us. We have got him one of those winnie the pooh nigh time projector thing that plays a lovely relaxing music and projects pictures on his ceiling.
He's always asleep before its finished

Thats the one! Its £28 so didn't want to get it to then find it didn't work... She has a mobile above the cot which plays lullaby and has light show but it seems to stimulate her more than send her to sleep.... We don't have a dummy either so not sure if I'm just expecting too much from her to just fall asleep herself... I need to find a cot that rocks or bounces and I'll be sorted Now there's a business idea.... Thanks anyway!

we have one which DS really liked when he was littler (now 26 weeks). it's sound and motion sensitive so if they wake up in night it lulls them to sleep. I don't use it anymore because he settles himself but it was brilliant in early weeks.

My oldest had one from birth, she was a restless sleeper and wouldn't settle easily, and it worked for her. We tried with the younger one and he seemed to get annoyed with it, prefering peace and quiet! I think it just depends on your baby. They are quite expensive, especially if it turns out to be a waste of time!

also you will get through loads of batteries if you don't remember to switch it off properly every night! If she calms down with the sound of the hairdryer I think it's worth a go.

It was utterly useless for dd made not one jot of difference to how/when she slept. Am keeping hold of it for dd2 though, just in case!

Yeh, IKWYM, they seem to get through batteries like nothing else! Our cat quite likes it, so even if it didn't work for dd I might stick it in the cat basket and let him have it!!! Although my sil has a little monkey at settling down, next time he's here I'll whack prince Lionheart's volume up to max and see what he thinks...

Thanks guys! I'll maybe give it a go - its not so much for settling back during the night as she's fine at doing that....its for the initial putting her to bed bit to relieve us from rocking, swaying duty - I hear myths of people being able to put their awake baby to bed and they just fall asleep . I'll let you know how it goes - fingers crossed!

Just had a thought about something else you could try...my ds has one of those fisher price aquarium night light/musical things that attaches to the side of the cot. It has lights and plays a lullaby for about 5 or 10 mins and then turns itself off. Ds goes off to sleep with that every night (he turns it on himself sometimes if he wakes up - he's 14mths now!). He is one those mythical babies that settles himself, but he's a 2nd child and they don't get much choice! His bedtime is when I am doing homework with dd or watching tv with her so he has always been left to it (poor little man!). They are about £20, I got mine from Argos and I don't know what anyone else thinks but imo they have more longevity. The slumber bear works when they are still little but not as they get to big baby or toddler stage. Although ds now wakes up at 5am and demands cuddles and a bottle and won't settle again in the cot, so if anyone has any tips for that I'd be grateful... ps cc can work but is heart wrenching, especially if it's your 1st baby. I couldn't do it with dd, but have done it with ds with mixed results. It's not necessarily the miracle cure that the hv suggests!
