it is a book by Elizabeth Pantley. it explains in layman's terms how a baby's nervous system changes over the first year and how to use gentle ways of getting them to sleep though without stressing out you or your baby too much. it is not a quick fix but just like how grown ups evolve, so do children.

if you do it thoroughly you start off doing what she calls sleep logs. so you write down everything that happens in the day, naps, feeds etc then how the night goes. the idea is that you can then look at exactly what leads to a good nights sleep and what leads to poor sleep. so like how much nap is best, what level of activity is best etc etc.

she lists lots of great sleep tips, like using a comforter, sleep music and so on.

it's basically a gentle way of helping your child learn how to sleep.

it is very good, certainly worked for us. but you do have to realise it's not a quick fix, but it's great if you're not into CC etc. our 6 month old now sleeps 6 til 6, waking once at approx 2am for a quick feed. she settles herself to sleep without crying for daytime naps and at night. she now actually 'asks' us to put her to bed. this is unbelievable considering a couple of months ago i had a baby that would not do daytime naps other than in the car and would not go to sleep at night without a 2 hour feed and would then wake for upto 6 feeds.

I don't think Quick Fix is in the baby dictionary....
