Too late to start swaddling?

My dd is coming up to 12 weeks and recently has been really tricky to get to sleep due to her constant wriggling and Moro reflex.

Sometimes I gently hold her arms by her sides or on her chest until she falls asleep, but she will then jerk herself awake several times before finally in a deep sleep.

This is becoming difficult during the night as it can take 45 mins to get her back off.

She hasn't ever been swaddled (kicking myself now...) but I'm wondering if its too late to start? She is in a grobag at the moment.

try it, you have nowt to lose.
ds1 wouldnt be swaddled at all, he hated it. but ds2 loves it, although i have been doing it from the start.
if she is waking herself then she will probably like it. you may have to try a couple of times though if she rebels at first. maybe try when she is a bit dozy?

I dont know the answer to your question but I hope someone else does as I am wondering if I can still swaddle my 13 week old boy. He has been swaddled before but I wasnt sure if he was too big for it now? Does it affect their growth in any way?

I swaddled both of mine but DD1 grew out of it (ie. was wriggling out) at around 10/11 weeks and DD2 when she was about 8/9 weeks. As LadyOfTheFlowers says though, give it a go, you have nothing to lose!

I agree - give it a go. My ds (10 weeks) has been swaddled at night for most of the time. Tried giving it up and had 3 really bad nights. Swaddled again last night and back to waking only once in 11 hour period. Also I couldn't get him to sleep longer than 45 mins during day, so swaddled today and he slept 2.5 hours! Miracle! Now kicking myself for not swadding daytimes sooner.
Just have to work on the old "getting him to go to sleep by himself..."
Been trying to put him down since 8pm with no avail, but like oneweemite says, once they're down, they're down. Its the down bit that's hard!
Good luck!
